What to expect

For full band shows, we'll have a 4–5-piece band with vocals, electric guitar, bass, and drums. We play a blend of originals and covers and feature lots of harmonies. Covers include the likes of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Buddy Holly, Hank Williams, and Lucinda Williams but we can learn others too. We play a blend of upbeat and laid-back songs and can tailor the set to fit the event. We consult the event planner to make sure we are playing at a volume that suits the event. For full band shows, we prefer that the host of the event provide the sound system and PA, but we can provide it as well. I always hire enthusiastic and professional players to accompany me and make the event fun for everyone.

For duo shows, we play a similar range of covers and originals and we feature engaging harmonies with acoustic guitars, mandolins, and lap steels. We keep the energy up and try to fit the volume and mood of the gathering. We can provide a small PA system for duo shows.

For solo gigs, I play acoustic guitar and sing and can bring a small PA system. I normally use a guitar loop pedal to keep the groove going as I play.

About

Colin Gilmore is carrying on a Texas family tradition that has worldwide roots. At a young age, he began touring with his father, three-time Grammy nominee Jimmie Dale Gilmore. With big shoes to fill, Colin struck out on his own, eventually garnering a worldwide fan base and three critically-acclaimed albums of his own. His album Goodnight Lane received 4-star reviews in Mojo and Uncut, and Colin was selected to be the music consultant for the 2017 feature film Barracuda, starring Sophie Reid and Allison Tolman. He performed in the film and wrote songs for it. Colin has performed in front of thousands of people at festivals and even sang the National Anthem at a White Sox game in Chicago. He has played in coffee houses, living rooms, and corporate events. Whatever the setting, he brings the same lively energy to the stage.

"BEST AMERICANA/SINGER-SONGWRITER ALBUM OF 2013" - Mike Ragogna, Huffington Post

"Colin is clearly his own man in his own world. His easygoing, conversational voice summons the same spirits Woody Guthrie and the young Bob Dylan walked with... I want to hear more."
- John Swenson, Twisted South Magazine

Additional booking notes

For solo/duo shows we'll need enough power for a small Lucas Nano (460-Watt power amp) and a small guitar amp. We can provide a small PA system.

For full-band gigs, power needs will be determined by the space and scope of the event (amplification sufficient for a PA system and a 4–5-piece band). The purchaser can either provide their own PA system and sound engineer or pay us to provide these.

We do not provide lighting so the purchaser will need to provide adequate lighting to fit the event.

We will take a 15-minute break every hour we perform.

Influences and inspiration

Some of our main influences are Buddy Holly, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, Lucinda Williams, Hank Williams, The Clash, Guy Clark, and Johnny Cash. American roots music is our center of gravity (with a strong bent towards Texas artists), though we often draw on indie rock and British, Irish, and Mexican folk in our sound. We are eclectic in our approach and our aim is always to keep the music lively and soulful.
