People of often ask me. What to Expect when a magician performs at a cocktail party, banquet or award ceremony.

When it comes to banquets or cocktail parties, it’s very similar. Magician will make their way around a room for maybe an Hour or longer. Performing a series of tricks that interact with the attendees at their tables, or while standing groups.

Often you’ll see the Magician really is more of a host of the event or maybe a concierge of the event. Helping organize people providing them entertainment and making sure that everyone is having a good time.
Rule of thumb for magicians is there should be one Magician for 100 guests. Though I have performed for up to 200 or more.

An idea of what they might see is, and of course, this is exclusive to the Magician. But for myself, I prefer making a bottle of wine appear from nowhere. Or making a champagne glass filled appear from nowhere card manipulation, a series of silver dollars that seemed to appear in a group of three or four and slowly disappear.

Many of the tricks I do. Are very similar to something you might see at the magic castle a very high-level of manipulation and performance style.

Being on stage is a little different. These are usually about 3 to 10 minute mini acts. Involving maybe comedy and people from the audience coming up on stage to assist the Magician and a fun and comical way.

Also, usually the Magician will work as a cohost or host. Helping people get on stage and or helping the host of the event. I also carry extensive playlist of show business style background music to be played at these events.

Many magicians understand the need of being flexible for clients. Usually, I bring A suitcase which turns into a table that has all of my performance props. Which I might put in a corner of the room or use it during performance.

Standardly this is what I use for a cocktail party or banquet room.
If the client starts requesting, a PA system, curtaining and or lighting. I think it is obvious at that point to coordinate with myself so we have everything set up correctly and in time for the show.

The only other things would be obvious. Like a deposit, Location and date of the show. And any special needs that the event itself would want. Not necessarily myself.
Even though I try to stay very competitive. The more complicated the show gets or the more you need me the more I do have to charge.

But for a simple party that someone might be having in a penthouse for a tradeshow or special event. I try to make it exceptionally simple to have me there.
