Overview

Our two-person band is hirable to play our originals and/or a variety of genres (in our non-classical style) including Celtic, folk, Appalachian old-time, Americana, rock, blues, beach-y, old country-gospel, country-folk, etc. We'll customize our setlist to play whichever of our genres or instruments you like best, whether it's with singing or only instrumentals or a mixture.

Our performance could include a duo combination of guitars (acoustic or electric), fiddle, Irish bouzouki, mandolin, bass, Irish banjo, or drums (which ones depends on your preferences).

Our acoustic or electric duo enjoys playing wherever the sounds of our strings and voices would enrich your event.

A Highlight Of Our Festival

Clay Babies are a highly talented Folk Group. They played for our Annual Watermelon Music Festival ON the 4th of July. They were easily a highlight from the line-up. Just as important they are endearing with relatable, caring personalities that shine both on and off stage. They play multiple instruments and sing a myriad of songs. Worth booking for sure and we will book again!

THANK YOU / "ceud mìle taing" / "go raibh maith agat", Joseph, you are so kind! We LOVED playing at MacIain’s Public House, a dream of a pub for playing music and also for eating delicious authentic Scottish / Irish / Scots-Irish / British food! We're coming back soon as customers. :-)

What to expect

We are professional and nice. We show up on time and start playing on time. We are not classically trained and do not play in a classical manner...we are a bit rougher than that; we've had a lot of positive feedback from lovers of non-classical music (just listen to our audio samples, all recorded live). We absolutely love playing music and always strive to deliver our very best to you.

Among our variety of genres and instruments, we will stick to your preferences whether that be acoustic folk or electric rock. We aim to play what we think would be most appropriate for your event, so let us know what type of music you're looking for.

Our audio samples only cover a small portion of our potential sounds regarding instruments and genres. Please send us a message if you'd like to hear an instrumental combination or genre not represented here (we have maximized the number of samples permitted by gigSalad without us having to pay a monthly fee). The audio samples here were recorded live at a gig, so if you want a clearer sample without the extra noise, we can record a snippet in a quiet room. Also send us a message if you'd like to see a video snippet of us playing on stage.

About

Clay Babies is a husband-wife song-writing duo in northeast Georgia. We will select music from our repertoire that best suits your event and fits your preferences, whether that be our original music or covers from one of several different genres (see below), or an appropriate mixture of the various types of music we play.

GigSalad permits us to display only two searchable genres of music for free, which is why it shows only 'Celtic' and 'Folk' for our "services offered"...We can however play additional types of music including traditional Celtic, folk, Americana/roots, acoustic rock, electric rock, Appalachian old-time, tiki-beach-y, old country-gospel, country-folk, and what some people call bluegrass (though we'd call our style old-time rather than bluegrass but many people don't know the difference). We can send you samples of additional genres we are capable of which are not represented here (GigSalad limits the number of audio samples).

We play a variety of venues such as restaurants, assisted living & retirement communities, pubs, wineries, church events, banquets, weddings, office parties, house concerts, coffeehouses, bed & breakfasts, farmers markets, festivals, Renaissance fairs, dances (waltzes, Irish step-dancing, Appalachian circle dances, cake walks), or wherever our sounds would enhance your event. Whether your event is secular or religious, and whether for families, teetotalers, or social drinkers, we refine our music selections to befit the gathering.

We can also write custom songs, e.g. to promote your business or event or to give a special gift to a loved one.

Additional booking notes

Let us know the setting you want us to play in, whether amplified or not and how large the event space is. When amplified, we can use our own sound equipment and run our own sound as long as we have access to a grounded 3-pronged outlet, and as long as you aren't trying to project to a HUGE area at a VERY LOUD volume. At any event we've played at, we have plenty of volume potential from our two amplifiers (capable of projecting well to several thousand sq ft), and for most events the goal is to be loud enough to be heard but not so loud that people can't easily hear each other. (If you're like us, you can't enjoy hearing live music when the sound is too loud.)

Set list

We customize our set list based on what you're interested in of the genres / instruments we're capable of playing. We aim to match our set list to your event as best we can, so let us know what you think the people at your event would like.

Influences and inspiration

positive music from many different genres

Setup requirements

When amplification is needed, we can supply all of our sound equipment and run our own sound. -- From you, we only need access to a power source that has a 3-pronged grounded outlet.
