What to Expect
A stationary living Victorian lady statue at your entrance is a sure way to wow your crowd with a surprise and a silent smile.
An aerial act, performed high above the floor on aerial tissu, or a spinning glory of single point trapeze is a perfect piece for an unforgettable show.
Clara LaFrance is an aerialist, a teacher, and a performer. She loved theater and dance from the moment she donned a tiny tutu and tap-danced to "I'm a Little Tea Pot" at the age of 3. Moving (mostly) away from tutus and tap shoes, she studied music and then art, completing her M.F.A. in graphic design.
While studying graphic design in London, she took to the streets as a living statue, rewarding audiences with stillness, poise, and a rare smile. A series of fortunate adventures led from street theater to the Silkworms in Boston, where she fell in love with aerial silks. She continued aerial and circus training at New England Center for Circus Arts, completing their nine month Professional Track Program, training aerial silks and double sling, as well as beginning German wheel. She has also trained and performed duo trapeze and duo acrobatics.
Clara has had the honor of performing at varied venues including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the woods of Vermont. She teaches both children and adults at SHOW Circus Studio, combining circus skills and conditioning in a supportive, encouraging environment.
Influences & Inspiration
I've been influenced, of course, by Cirque du Soleil and Isabelle Chasse. Less obvious but equally influential include Martha Graham, Donlin Foreman, and, incongruously, Alice of Wonderland.
