I play Tenor and Bari Sax. I also double on Soprano Sax and Clarinet. I am an accomplished Jazz Musician currently attending the University of North Texas, College of music. I have played in the 6 O'Clock lab band for 2 semesters. I have ability to transpose on the fly, play improv solos, 12, 16 bar blues, etc. I fully understand sheet music, notations and have an extensive music theory background. Also, I am a proficient sight reader. I have created charts for bands for songs - transposing for each part. I have arranged whole pieces for bands as well.
I've seen this player with a quartet at the now closed Two Boots in Bridgeport. His playing was fantastic and he really had a great vibe that was contagious to the audience. I also had the opportunity to catch him performing at a private party with another quartet. His solos were amazing and he also played an electric wind instrument on stage as well. Would recommend him either with his quartet or as a solo. They would be perfect for a wedding reception cocktail hour performance as they are very reasonably priced.
I hired CJ to play at a party at my house and also hired his band. CJ is a lead player, he performed Jazz, Swing and other types of music. CJ's solos were fantastic - the type that brings audience clapping to the tune. He played Bari, Tenor and Soprano sax during the show, having solos on each as well. He was truly a front man for the band, and we really were impressed with his stage presence. He doesn't just stand there like a cardboard cutout and play, He's constantly bopping his head, using body English, you can truly tell that this guy loves to perform. Would recommend him without a doubt.
