Overview

Chrishawn Darby Trio is a professional Jazz trio based out of Greensboro NC. They provide top-level Jazz and R&B performances for concerts, background music, dinners, corporate events, private parties, small and large events, and much more. They will travel locally, regionally, and nationally.

They can provide a minimum duo of various instrumentation such as; piano and bass, piano and vocals, horn and piano. They also provide traditional trio configuration as well as quartet and larger up to a 7 piece group including vocals.

All performers have received bachelors degree in music and some hold masters degrees.

About

Chrishawn Darby is a drummer, percussionist, composer, and private instructor. Originally from Orangeburg, South Carolina, he graduated from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in 2013. He completed his undergraduate degree in Jazz studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in 2017, and completed his Masters degree at North Carolina Central University in 2024. Chrishawn has studied with various professionals in the industry such as: Danny Boozer, Thomas Taylor, Jerome Jennings, Lewis Nash, and Matt Wilson. He has performed in the Monterrey Jazz Festival and other music festivals around the nation. He has performed with the likes of Wycliffe Gordon, Delfeayo Marsalis, Janinah Burnett, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Shana Tucker, Brian Horton, The Camel City Jazz Orchestra, the Mint Julep Jazz Band, Keenan McKenzie and the Riffers, Steve Haines, and Chad Eby among others.When Not performing, he is teaching drum lessons virtually and in person and is the current Professor of Percussion at Guilford College Greensboro, North Carolina, adjunct drum professor for Pop Tech at UNCG, and Jazz drum instructor at UNC School of the Arts.
