What to expect
Audiences can expect an energetic, polished stand-up performance built around sharp observations, offbeat storytelling, self-deprecating humor, and relatable life experiences. Chris works hard to connect quickly with the room and deliver a set that feels personal, spontaneous, and tailored to the event rather than simply recited.
Clients can book Chris as a host, opener, feature, or headliner. He is comfortable performing in comedy clubs, theaters, bars, breweries, casinos, fundraisers, private events, corporate settings, and community venues. His material can be adjusted for clean, general-audience, or adult shows, depending on the needs of the event.
As a host, Chris keeps the show organized, maintains the audience’s energy, introduces performers clearly, and handles transitions without dragging the evening to a halt. For longer events, he can also help shape the lineup and recommend experienced comedians who fit the audience, venue, and budget.
Clients can expect clear communication, punctuality, flexibility, and a performer who understands that the goal is not simply to tell jokes—it is to help create a successful event that audiences enjoy and organizers are proud to present.
About
Chris Starman is a Quad Cities-based stand-up comedian, host, and live-event veteran with more than 15 years of experience entertaining audiences across the Midwest. His comedy blends sharp observations, offbeat storytelling, self-deprecation, and the occasional misguided idea into an energetic, memorable set that works in comedy clubs, theaters, breweries, casinos, fundraisers, private events, and community venues.
Chris has headlined and featured throughout Iowa, Illinois, and beyond, and has shared the stage with nationally touring comedians including Sam Tallent, Brent Terhune, Costaki Economopoulos, Zach Martina, and Hornswoggle. He has also appeared with Don’t Tell Comedy, Roast Battle, Donzilla TV, and multiple comedy festivals.
In addition to performing, Chris co-hosts the weekly Broken Blackhawk Comedy Open Mic in Moline, Illinois. Years of hosting and producing live events have made him comfortable reading a room, keeping a show moving, and adapting his material to fit the audience. He can perform clean when needed or bring a more adult set for late-night and uncensored events.
Whether booked as a host, opener, feature, or headliner, Chris brings professionalism, flexibility, and a genuine love of making people laugh.
Additional booking notes
Chris requires a working sound system with a microphone suitable for stand-up comedy, preferably a handheld wired or wireless mic with a standard microphone stand. The performance area should be well lit, visible to the audience, and positioned away from loud kitchen equipment, televisions, games, or other distractions when possible.
For larger rooms, a raised stage or clearly defined performance area is strongly preferred. Audience seating should face the stage, and the sound system should be powerful enough for everyone in the room to hear clearly.
A small table or stool and bottled water are appreciated but not required. Chris can usually work with an existing venue setup and is happy to discuss practical alternatives for spaces without traditional comedy-club equipment.
The other option is, Chris can be really, really loud. :-)

Influences and inspiration
I feel like I can learn from every comedian, my biggest comedy influences include George Carlin, Kyle Kinane, John Mulaney, and Brent Terhune. I’m drawn to sharp observations, strong storytelling, intelligent wordplay, and the ability to turn frustration, personal flaws, and everyday absurdity into something funny and relatable.
