Meet the evolution of plastic pollution…PlasTikobots! Many of us who live near the oceans know that plastic products and debris are one of the top forms of pollution found in those areas.
Experience an environmentally-friendly, educational and fun time experimenting to create personalized art pieces made from reclaimed and recycled plastics that might otherwise have made their way to our precious waters.
Not only will workshops be entertaining and result in beautiful art décor, each piece will call attention to the increasing problem of plastic and other pollution in these delicate and vital ecosystems.

The Child Creativity Lab (CCL) is a planned specialty children's museum focused on enhancing creativity in children in order to advance divergent thinking, problem solving, and the ability to innovate. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Orange County where our maiden facility is planned for.
-- NOTE: Every paid private event allows the CCL to provide a free educational workshop to a low-income population. --
While we continue to plan for our formal museum, we'd like to invite you to learn more about our "Museum-on-Wheels" educational outreach program! Our current showcase focuses on the evolution of plastic pollution...PlasTikobots!

Supporting the Environment.
Most of the trash in the ocean and on the beaches is plastic. Unlike paper or wood debris, most plastic never completely biodegrades. Instead, it breaks into smaller and smaller and smaller pieces until it isn’t easily seen.
According to the California Coastal Commission, approximately 1,224,663 tons of debris were collected during California Coastal Cleanup day in 2010; a large amount of this was plastic. This debris can be harmful to many plant and animal species that live in these aquatic ecosystems. Fish can ingest the plastic debris, and, since they cannot digest it, it stays in their stomachs. Other sea creatures can become entangled in plastic and injure themselves or even drown. Furthermore, it is likely that the chemicals in plastic are being transferred to marine life, which in turn can pass to you through the food chain.
Educational Benefits.
Upcycling is a process in which disposable or discarded items are repurposed to make them valuable, useful, or simply aesthetically pleasing. Upcycling challenges the consumer culture and connotations of what is considered "used", and instead encourages widespread reform to think of new and innovative ways to utilize things. It benefits the environment by promoting reuse over discarding whenever possible. Such projects can serve as an engaging way to teach children about green living.
Featured artist educator.
Claudio Garzn, an LA-based artist, cherishes the waterways around his home. He walks along the L.A. River nearly every day and collects things that catch his eye. But he’s not picking up colorful rocks or interesting shells—he’s picking up plastic garbage.
Claudio is an ocean advocate working to inspire students and the public to conserve our changing oceans. His plastic ocean debris sculptures offer a unique way to represent and convey this global crisis. His work exemplifies not only visionary creativity, but exciting polution-oriented design to encourage environmental awareness. Claudio believes artists are the storytellers needed to translate massive amounts of scientific data in ways that can be assimilated and acted upon by the public who are simply not getting the message needed to be informed and engaged.
His art work has been featured in The Los Angeles Times, Discovery Channel, Discovery Channel En Espaol, National Geographic and TEDxSoCal.
Tables and chairs for children to work on. Work mats will be provided for no-mess clean-up.
