From their first shows in Kent, Ohio to the release of their first album, Only Good Karma in 2012, Chil’s sound has morphed from pop-punk to a cohesive blend of indie, rock, and even EDM music that creates a sound unique to Chil.
Following their pioneer album, Chil released Keep Us From Sinking in March 2014. From (phone number hidden)5, Chil released three singles produced by Forever the Sickest Kid’s Austin Bello, and in April 2016, No Sleep, No Silence, also produced by Bello, marked Chil’s third album release.
Chil’s success does not end in Northeast Ohio. The band has played shows from Indiana to New York, and has radio play from six countries in Europe, in Canada, and in the US.

Nick Batton, Chil’s rhythm guitarist, lead vocalist and song writer, started playing guitar at age 10. He has a talent for engaging the audience and pulling them into each of Chil’s performances. Nick, a self-professed “gear-head”, is true to the sound and chooses his equipment carefully. As Nick writes the band’s music, much thought goes into which guitar will be pushed through his Marshall JCM 900 amp. He is rarely seen without a guitar in his hands. Nick’s passion for music and determination for success continue to drive Chil forward.
Ben Batton, Chil’s drummer, vocalist and song writer, started drumming in December of 2006 and continually challenges himself to grow in his abilities. A huge fan of Travis Barker, Neil Pert and Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan (RIP), Ben pushes towards perfection in his drumming. “The harder the song, the better.” says Ben. His goal is to become a professional drummer and perform at large venues across the United States. Ben’s favorite thing to do is to play live shows and hear the roar of the crowd.
Max Duffy, Chil’s bassist, started out playing guitar at age 10. He began forming his skills on the bass at age 13. He thought guitar was OK, but wanted to slap out notes through the bass guitar instead. His style of bass varies from rock to jazz theory progressions to the current pop / punk sound of Chil. Max creates his unique bass lines for the band. From clapping his hands to doing guitar swings, Max fully participates in audience engagement and has great stage presence in gigs large to small. He pushes his sound from and Ernie Ball Musicman classic into a Fender 115 bxa.
