Padgett wedding Aug 20, 2016

Charles was great ! He explored the location and event specifics thoroughly before the date and made timely contact with us all along-before and after. He is a photo journalist and since this was not the first Marriage for either of us, this is the style we wanted. We got Great candid shots of the wedding and they really tell the story and show people having fun! Picture quality great. When we wanted a shot of something he was right there to do it too. Very on top of things. He arrived early and took "before" pictures. We definitely recommend and commend him for working so well with all of us. Thank you Charles.

What to expect

I'm a people person. I like interacting with people. Do a mix of candid shots and posed shots, like a first look for instance.
So, a wedding day might go like this: Arrive early. Shots of the wedding dress by itself. Shots of the bridesmaids, bride and groomsmen and groom getting ready. Flay lays: Details of invitations, shoes, rings etc. Mom getting bride ready. A first look if the couple wants to do that before the ceremony. More pictures of the wedding party. Then the ceremony. Wedding party processing down the aisle. Shots of the couple as they say their vows. Do detail images of the cake and reception area. Cake cutting. Speeches. Couple's reaction. First dance. Mother son/father daughter dance. Group family portraits somewhere in here. Then party time. Candid shots of dancing etc. Exit: Arrange everyone to time confetti throw or wave sparklers as the couple leaves the venue.
This is the general idea. Obviously, there are exceptions.

About

Been in love with photography for many years. Have done a lot of editorial work. It's the people who make it so special. No matter what you're photographing or working on you always meet fantastic people and that takes everything to a new level. Enjoying that connection with people is just as fulfilling as taking a good picture. With photography there's always a new adventure waiting for you out there.

Set list

No set list of shots that you can read off of a sheet of paper. Of course, you want to make sure you get pictures of family members, friends, guests, interesting situations, dancing, excited characters, people crying, cake cutting, etc. Flexibility is the key. If the bride wants certain shots, I'll try to get them for her.

Influences and inspiration

The great photojournalistic photographers have been my main influence. Capturing that priceless, one-of-a-kind moment is very satisfying; and that what's you're always looking for. For instance, a mother's tears, grandpa and grandma hugging or smiling and, of course, the smiles on the faces of the newlyweds as the groom slips the ring on the bride's finger.
