Catherine Bird is a hula hooper, belly dancer, and fire performer who has over a decade of experience. Her shows fuse the grace of her extensive dance background with humor and excitement. Whether your event is a small birthday party, corporate event, large festival, wedding, or other occasion she will create the spectacle that is right for you. LED shows available as well. A set can be catered to your event's theme or mood, feel free to ask for more information.
Catherine carries fire performance insurance and brings her own safety personnel to each fire show. Her personnel are certified through the Flow Arts Institute and have also undergone in depth, hands on training.

March 5, 2019Catherine Bird is the epitome of a well-rounded performer. She exudes a level of professionalism and poise even when she's clowning around (pun intended).
Catherine performed at my circus themed wedding and was an absolute delight. She took the time to pick out music and a costume that would go with the theme and mood of my wedding. And when we had technical difficulties (gawd weddings are stressful), she remained poised and patient.
And then she gave a jaw-droppingly amazing performance. I was mesmerized by her skill and technique (and so was everyone else). She was spinning 1, 2, then 3 hoops. I thought that would be it, but she kept adding more!
For such an amazing performer, she's also super personable. After her performance she offered mini lessons to anyone who wanted to hoop during the reception.
I am so, so, so glad I hired her to perform at my wedding. She helped make the day extra special. I highly recommend her for any event where you need a hoop artist, bellydancer, fire dancer, etc. She's amazing.

Catherine Bird can provide single or multiple acts, roving entertainment, or hoop or belly dance parties for your next event.
Acts can be anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes and can include hoops, multiple hoops, poi, fans, fire, or belly dance.
Roving entertainment for ambiance is priced hourly starts at a minimum of 1 hour.
Hoop or belly dance parties can be anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes and are for ages 7 to adults. Following a short performance, participants will learn basic moves and a short choreography.
Catherine Bird is a hoop dance performer, fire dancer, and belly dancer based out of Tacoma, WA. Her love of movement began when she saw fire poi spinners for the first time in 2003 at a small house party. With electronic music as her soundtrack she began to explore the flow arts, delving into poi, hoops, fans, and fire eating. In 2010 she began belly dancing, studying with many fine local instructors and traveling multiple times a year to continue her dance education. Since then she has brought her love of fire and flow all over the Puget Sound, entertaining for everything from childrens' events to corporate occasions to music video shoots to burlesque shows. She is a regular belly dancer at several Seattle restaurants and teaches weekly classes in downtown Tacoma.
Dancing with props requires space, at least 30 square feet and up. If your venue doesn't have much space no worries! Contact Catherine and she can work with you.
Music can be played through a laptop or Ipod.
Lighting is varied depending on the type of show.
