April 24, 2024Amazing Band!
Carlos and his group were absolutely perfect for our occasion. They are wonderful musicians, punctual, courteous, professional and a lot of fun. The group of 4 had a wide variety of musical talents (vocals, percussion, flute, bass, piano, etc) and the music was fun and lively. They listened to our requests and played music that our guests really wanted to hear and made it a very special experience for us. We will be booking them again for sure and many of my friends asked how to get in touch with them during the event, so a lot of proof that everyone enjoyed themselves. Highly recommend!!

About
Carlos Jimenez is an extraordinary flute player and vocalist, as well as composer and bandleader of Jazz, Latin Jazz and Salsa.
Born in New York, his family moved to Puerto Rico when he was six years old. It was
there that his musical training began. From a young age, Carlos had an aptitude for
percussion and played timbales, bongos and congas. His first lyrical instrument was
trumpet, which he studied under Professor Pablo Leon at Francisco Zayas Santana
High School. Carlos soon changed his instrument to flute, feeling inspired listening to
the music of Mongo Santamaria and how he utilized the flute in his arrangements.
Carlos returned to New York as a young man to pursue his dream of becoming a jazz
flutist. He began studying classical flute at the Music Conservatory of Westchester. A
few years later, he studied jazz harmony and voicing with master pianist, Michael Longo.
Carlos’ hard work and passion for music has resulted in a prolific performance schedule over the past 20 plus years. He has led everything from quartets to orchestras for corporate events for Regeneron, Nike, Scotia Bank, Victoria Secret & Co, and TD Bank; Cultural Institutions and Universities such as New York Botanical Garden, Lehman College, Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, York College, Sarah Lawrence College, Stony Brook Southampton and Columbia University; Unions including the United Federation of Teachers, 1199SEIU (United Healthcare Workers East) and Local 802 American Federation of Musicians. National Hispanic Business Group, Hispanic Federation Inc., Latino Judges Association, New York State Judicial Institution, NYS Federation of Taxi Drivers, CHCF (The Committee for Hispanic Children & Families), Westchester County Bar Association, Westchester Women's Bar Association, Hudson Valley Hispanic Bar Association, New York Hispanic American Law Enforcement Organization, Joanna Sophia Foundation, Jack and Jill of America Foundation, Inc, and many music festivals including Montauk Music Festival, Lake George Music Festival; White Plains Jazz Festival, BCA Spring Festival: Palladium Style, Village of Warwick Summer Concert, Hudson's 400th Anniversary Riverfront Green Park (Peekskill Celebration) , La Marqueta (El Barrio), Harbour Jazz Festival, 3rd Annual West Harlem Jazz Festival, Summer Sound Festival, Long Island Winterfest on the Vine and Fishkill Farms Fall Harvest Festival. Carlos’ band has performed at numerous galas, fundraisers and community events which has earned him multiple proclamations and awards for his service to the community as well as having had the honor of providing the first ever musical performance at the Supreme Court in Westchester County. Over the years, Carlos has performed at many well-known New York City restaurants; hotels and performance venues including Cipriani, Borgata Hotel, Gotham Hall NYC, Public Hotel, City Winery, The Jazz Loft, Zona De Cuba, and The Lexington Hotel.

Influences and inspiration
My family (father, grandfather, brother, and cousin) got me into playing music first. Meeting Tito Puente with my father at City Island was amazing and inspiring. We sat down on a table with him and he ordered appetizers for us. He then invited us to his show at SUNY Purchase College. I followed up and was invited to go back stage to spend time with him and all of his great musicians. Listening to that band and all of his musicians perform so tremendously made me serious about pursuing my music dreams.
