Cara Van Claus

For the holidays, we are a traditional 4-6 piece jazz band (the additional 2 pieces being horns, by request). We'll come in full Christmas class (unless you'd prefer ugly sweaters - we can do that too!) and play holiday songs in a standard jazz style, with some regular standards thrown in. Any holiday music (Christmas or otherwise) can be requested in advance; at this time, we are unable to accommodate requests at the event. Our lead singer also has theatre and improv experience and can emcee if needed or wanted. Sets longer than 2 hours will require 10 minute breaks every 45-50 minutes.

The music of Cara Van Thorn can best be described as dynamic. With vocals that range from smooth to soaring, a piano that keeps the beat, and a host of instrumental cameos, it’s guaranteed to keep you on your toes. Their sound would be right at home in a raucous speakeasy; a burlesque parlor; a late night jazz club; or a Tim Burton movie, and is reminiscent of such bands as Blondie, Tori Amos, and even Evanescence.
