Buoy the Brooklyn Mermaid is an operatic singing siren bringing music and magic to dry land. With soaring vocals, oceanic whimsy, and a deep love for the fintastic, Buoy invites audiences of all ages to dive into underwater adventures where opera meets imagination. Buoy first made waves as one half of the beloved mermaid duo Bubbles and Buoy, the mersonas of Samantha Nahra (Buoy) and Rachel Sigman (Bubbles). Since the summer of 2022, they sang their siren songs alongside their trusty accompanist Captain Kat (Kat Bowman) on piano and accordion. Their educational, family-friendly show Mermaid Melodies has been presented by Opera on Tap NYC, Redivivus Opera, and Cunningham Piano. Their shimmering performances have graced Loisaida Open Streets, Montague Street BID, and Atlantic Avenue BID, and they were named NYC DOT Public Realm Programming Partners for 2024–2026.

Today, Buoy continues to enchant audiences with her signature blend of music and mermaid lore—welcoming everyone to splash into her world of song and story. She shares sea-sprinkled tales and sparkling tunes through playful performances like Buoy’s Briny Bops, a bubbly 30-minute show for preschool guppies, and Arias of the Abyss, a family-friendly adventure for fishes of all ages. Buoy also offers magical mermaid story time, perfect for libraries, children’s groups, or even one-on-one meetups on the beach—where young sea fans can dive into enchanting tales straight from the deep.

Is just me and my guitar plus props. Depending on the size of the group I made need amplification and an assistant to people with kids.

🌊 Arias of the Abyss
Can be done with tracks or a live accompanist this requires a piano. Depending on the venue there may be a need for amplification. There are also props.

📚 Mermaid Storytime
Is just and some books. If it's a big group amplification may be needed.
