Overview

The Brian Wride Trio are a neo-skiffle band, combining elements of folk, blues, and country and adding an electric edge to render original takes on songs of love, loss, longing, and dysfunction - songs old and new, well-known and obscure.

Complementing Brian's guitar and lead vocals are Jon Grove on bass and vocals and Brad Jefferies on drums, harmonica, and vocals.

If you are looking to hear a well-rehearsed trio with a setlist largely made up of obscure Canadiana and re-imagined classics, with the occasional original tune thrown in, then The Brian Wride Trio are who you are looking for.

What to expect

While the Trio is ostensibly a "cover band", the average listener might only recognize a few songs and are unlikely to hear anything from the "cover band canon". The Trio's setlist is largely made up of obscure Canadiana and re-imagined classics, with the occasional original tune thrown in.

The band is a well rehearsed ensemble, with tight, 3 part vocals, backed by electric guitar, bass, drums and harmonica. For a three piece band, they draw from a wide sonic palate to create a full sound. The trio is unlikely to pack the dance floor, but for a listening audience they breathe new life into familiar tunes and introduce quality material that is rarely, if ever, heard elsewhere. Of course, the band is also accustomed to being a backdrop for large social gatherings if that's what the event requires.

Visually, the trio maintains a vintage aesthetic, wearing vests and/or ties and using classic looking microphones and instruments.

About

The Brian Wride Trio are a neo-skiffle band, combining elements of folk, blues, and country into original takes on songs of love, loss, longing, and dysfunction - songs old and new, well-known and obscure. Complementing Brian's guitar and lead vocals are Jon Grove on bass and vocals and Brad Jefferies on drums, harmonica, and vocals.

Jon has an extensive and varied musical background, including playing keytar in the band, Unsaid.

Brad also performs as a member of River Valley Revival and is the Drum Sergeant in the Uxbridge Legion Pipe & Drum Band.

Highlights for the Trio include appearing at Whitevale Porchfest, the Wintersong Music Festival , the Springtide Music Festival, and the Markham Village Music Festival.

The Brian Wride Trio are exclusively a live act. They are nostalgic for the time before recorded music where music could only be enjoyed in a live setting. If you are looking to hear a well-rehearsed trio with a setlist largely made up of obscure Canadiana and re-imagined classics, with the occasional original tune thrown in, then The Brian Wride Trio are who you are looking for.

Additional booking notes

The trio is able to provide their own sound and lighting gear for venues up to 400 people.

If PA and backline are provided, we require as few as 7 channels: 3 vocals, guitar, bass, kick drum, and overhead mic. Both guitar and bass plug directly into the PA and the drum kit is only a two-piece kit, with a shallow bass drum, so we can work within a surprisingly small footprint.
