Apologies: I am not a cover song musician. All songs are original. I'm an Indigenous Cree singer songwriter living on the west coast of Canada near beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. I have been songwriting for decades and love creating stories and musical pieces. My mentors are the late Larry Norman, Charles Norman, Nick Chursinoff. I enjoy song forms such as Latin, African, Blues, Latin rock and world music. I enjoy Dylan, Marley, Knopfler, Cockburn, Hendrix, Santana and Putamayu world music. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Sincerely, Brander Raven

What to Expect
Insightful and gifted story teller in song. An Indigenous perspective. With a back ground in Fine Arts, Music, Recording Engineering, Counselling Therapist, Writing, and Indigenous Philosophy to bring you a thought provoking and evocative experience. Great songwriting and easily understood as a word painter. Sometimes deeply personal, sometimes prophetic and political, sometimes tongue in cheek humorous. You will be brought back to the days where songwriters were seen as able to portray the tragic hero, sinner and saint in the webs of their musical expression.
Brander started guitar at the age of 18 and very quickly developed to writing and performing his own songs a year later with a band. His vocal styles give impressions of Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Rodriguez, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn,Mark Knopfler, Sting, Santana and Bob Marley. His guitar work is blues, jazz, reggae and alternative styles. By the age of 30 he had amassed over 200 songs, recorded privately hundreds of ideas.
1993 he worked and lived with the late Larry Norman (the Gospel Rock innovator) as a producer’s assistant & opening act for Solid Rock records Studio City, California. The 1994 LA earthquake brought him back to Canada. In 2000 he played live with Larry at Creation Fest 2000 West at the gorge amphitheatre in central Washington.
Brander has quietly carved a wonderful body of music and is now eager to share it.
Dependant upon venue theme and need. Negotiable with venue promotion. IE: Indigenous themes, Gospel themes, varied.
