With less than one day notice, Ed really delivered the goods

I wanted to thank you for helping out with the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer auction. Everyone was thrilled with the results of the "live" auction. Your participation in the event was truly appreciated.

I look forward to working with you in the future.

Best,
Meg

No Tricks from this DJ on our Halloween party! What a treat!

Ed is a great guy. Nowadays it might not be the smartest thing...but we basically did everything like it should be done...."by a handshake and your word". I didn't have to worry about contracts and all that B.S. Ed gave me the price, said he'd be there on the day of the party and he did what he was hired to do. I couldn't have asked for anything more. If your not familiar with hiring DJ's (like I was) and have an "old school" way of thinking you'll be pleasantly surprised. I guess 20-30 yrs in the business helps. Thanks for everything Ed...everyone had a great time. Tom

Our family liked him so much, we used him twice!

This was the second time we had him and he did a wonderful job again! He is very professional and focused on playing the songs and requests of all. You can give him a list of songs before he comes to your event. We liked him and will have him again I am sure!

What to expect

I strive to make my work your pleasure, no matter what it takes! I offer on line planning forms for weddings, parties and corporate events, and a better background in what moves a crowd than any "weekend warrior." I have performed for groups as small as 20 and as large as 20,000, and am intimately familiar with the sounds of the Big Bands, early rock and rollers, Doo-Wop, beach music, Motown, Memphis and Chicago soul. And don't forget the rock of the '70s and '80s, early classic hip hop favorites and virtually everything on today's Billboard Hot 100, from Justin Bieber to Kenny Chesney.

In these digital times, it's relatively easy for a beginner to procure a music library that'll please most people, but let's face facts:
If all you have is a list of song titles on a hard drive, you'll never have the music background to know WHICH of those songs are really still relevant, and WHEN to play them. Every age group has its favorites, and the best way to relive the best years of your life is by hearing just the right songs played on state of the art equipment with perfect pacing. And no extraneous BS from the DJ. While I'm right at home fast talking through a fifties sock hop theme, I'm also perfectly happy letting the music make the mood.

After four decades on radio, TV and live appearances, I've honed my craft to prove beyond a doubt that when you're booking a DJ for YOUR next event, there's good, there's better and there's The Boss Groover! Experience is the best teacher!

About

Born to be an entertainer, I started playing records at YWCA dances while I was still in high school in the 1960s. The avocation became my vocation, as I graduated with a BS in Radio-TV from Ohio U. in 1974, and spent the next ten years touring the country as one of the very first mobile DJs. I simultaneously honed my craft on radio stations around Ohio, as well as working as a fundraiser on camera for Public TV in Cleveland.

I followed my wife as she progressed through medical school and residency, and that led us to Minneapolis-St. Paul, where I became a regular on the fundraising circuit, both as a DJ and as a licensed auctioneer, with a special interest in wine auctions and charity events. I also spent a year while in Minneapolis working as an on air talent for what is now SHOP NBC, a shop at home network based in theTwin Cities.

When my wife's residency ultimately took her to St. Louis, I continued my activities as a charity auctioneer, and expanded my range into doing voice over work for local retailers and corporate instructional jobs, all the time keeping my hand in the mobile DJ field, which has always been my first love. Besides providing music for art gallery openings, class reunions and some corporate parties, I also worked with groups like Hadassah, the Minnesota Zoo and countless other non-profits.

We returned to the Philadelphia area in 2002 after my wife suffered a debilitating illness, and it was in 2005 that I transcribed my vinyl library of over 5000 songs to digital, had custom software designed to fit my particular needs as a party DJ, and began promoting The Boss Groover DJ to a new generation of newlyweds to be, conventioneers and milestone birthday celebrants.

While much of my work is word of mouth, I have performed over 60 shows that were booked through (link hidden), where the client feedback has kept me a five star entertainer for seven years running!

When you book The Boss Groover for your event, you can be assured that there won't be a last minute substitution, since I handle only my own bookings. You can also rest easy, with the knowledge that you'll be working with a true professional, who's here today and will be around for a long time to come. All my equipment is state of the art from Fender, Bose and Apple, and I have backup hardware and software to cover any unforeseen emergency that may arise.

My only job is to make YOU look good, and I'll be glad to send you references that'll back that claim up 100%! My rates are fair, my performances are always at the top of my game and after 40 years, I still love what I do! AND I'm still working as much as I want to! The reason's simple: I never looked at this as a hobby, and I've never done a show for someone who didn't call me first if they needed a DJ at a later date. It's easier working with a professional, and it allows YOU to worry about some other details, knowing that I've got your back for the entertainment.

My entire playbook is constantly being updated and is available for review to my clients on line. If there's anything you want to hear that I don't have, I'll get it for you before your party! 100% Satisfaction is my goal, and we can always chat, email or talk about special requests well in advance, just to make sure I attain that goal!

Influences and inspiration

Growing up on the east coast in the mid to late sixties, I learned my craft from some of the most talented DJs EVER: Dr. Don Rose, Hy Lit, Jerry Blavat and Cousin Brucie, to name just a few. Mix their styles with the best of the disco era DJs like Bobby DJ at Studio 54, throw in years of experience in Fort Lauderdale, Daytona Beach, just about every club at Ohio State, Ohio University, U. of Cincinnati, Cleveland's Flats entertainment area on the Cuyahoga river, and I hope you can see I earned my chops!
From 50th class reunions to destination theme weddings, wherever there's music, there's The Boss Groover. And I STILL LOVE WHAT I DO!!! And it shows with every client and every event!
