Rock in the City

Overview

Music that makes you think. And brings you closer to who you are. Songs that are written from the heart and make you feel, where the more you hear the more you want.
A review that was sent from a fan hearing the song “Into the Night” said: “Bob Dylan’s illegitimate son? Damn, this singer sounds like a young Dylan, but with melody. I like it a lot. I swear, if Bob were born in the 80’s, he would be doing this stuff. I’m impressed."

About

Steve Davis is the singer-songwriter behind the band Blue Sage. Steve has been writing, recording and performing music in Minnesota for over 20 years. His songs range from folk to rock, blues to country. His songs are heartfelt, and tell a story that make you think. Don Powell (former manager of Stevie Wonder and David Bowie) commented on the talents of Steve and his music: “Steve’s songs have the unique quality of combining pleasing melodies with strong lyrics that make you think. His voice has the subtle sound of many popular singers such as Bryan Adams, Don Henley, Paul Simon, Jackson Browne and The Eagles.”
He grew up in a crammed house with his mother and seven siblings. They moved from Peoria, Illinois to Robbinsdale, MN when he was young. In high school, Steve really took a liking to music. He taught himself to play the guitar and write music. Inspired by his favorite musicians - Bob Dylan, the Eagles, the Rolling Stones, and Jackson Browne - Steve developed a style all his own. After high school, he served in the US Marine Corps and then went on to be a successful business owner. Throughout the years, his true passion has always been music. He pulls great inspiration from Bob Dylan and crafted a unique homage to the great artist in a song called Ode to Bob Dylan – creatively weaving together the names of over 20 Bob Dylan songs.
Steve’s newest albums titled Gates of Time and Top of the World will be released this year, 2016. They mark the 5th and 6th albums Steve has produced with some great musicians and friends, under the name, Blue Sage. Steve continues to play local venues and promotes his music on iTunes and YouTube. He has received national and international acclaim for his songwriting. He was honored to have his song Flight 93 included in a memorial to honor victims of 9/11. His songs have appeared on Billboard Magazine’s top tracks and he has received top honors in international song writing competitions. He is in the process of working on an acoustic album. Steve has been lucky enough to play with many great musicians, including Gordy Knudtsen from The Steve Miller Band, award winning bassist Gordy Johnson and world class guitarist James (Jimi) Behringer.
A review that was sent from a fan hearing the song “Into the Night” said: “Bob Dylan’s illegitimate son? Damn, this singer sounds like a young Dylan, but with melody. I like it a lot. I swear, if Bob were born in the 80’s, he would be doing this stuff. I’m impressed. Nice pulls on the lead guitar during the transition solos. The lead guitar here rocks….I want to hear more of what you guys do.” –East Peoria, Illinois
Another fan of Steve wrote: “You can feel the passion behind every lyric & chorus that Steve sings. You can tell he really cares about his music & what he writes. I can’t wait to hear more” –St. Paul, Mn
