I have also had the pleasure of hiring them for a business event, and they were a cool backdrop of tunes that kept the crowd toe tapping all night!!!

December 9, 2023I book them once a month for a small cocktail and wine bar. They are professional, courteous, punctual and have a great sound! They are conscientious of our small space and adjust their sound accordingly. They are very reasonably priced. Their style of music ranges from 50s & 60s jazz & pop standards to classic rock and their own originals! You will not be disappointed!!!

December 6, 2023I've had the pleasure of hiring this band twice! Their mix of tunes from some of my favorite artists of the 60s and 70s just sets the right mood for any type of get together. If you are looking for casual yet sophisticated presence then this is your group.
We had an outdoor event and they played music completely appropriate to our situation. I can say that I wish I had another event coming up during the holiday season because I know they could really rock some Christmas tunes as well.

The Blue Chips offer live musical entertainment, capturing songs from the American Songbook through the 1970s (and occasionally beyond). We are a quartet, but can perform as a trio for quieter engagements. We are not a loud dance band, we are a laid back jazzy experience. We mix instrumentals with vocals and cover a range of styles.
We show up with our equipment on time and play for the duration of the scheduled event. We will play the first hour straight through. Depending on the duration of the engagement, subsequent hours will each include a 15 minute break.
VOCALS - Alexis Parente
Alexis is a local Philly musician and singer, performing with many bands, including Angry Young Band.
PIANO - Chris Pastore, PhD
Chris is a local Philly musician who has played with Ben Vaughn Combo, Junior Mints, Straight Ahead Big Band, Rendition Big Band, and Monday Blues Jazz Orchestra, amongst others.
BASS – James Bolno
James is a veteran of the Philadelphia music scene, having performed in numerous original bands, including the Subterranean's and The Hypocrites. He is a skilled bass player, with advanced Jazz music studies.
DRUMS - Jack Firneno
Jack has played and taught drums in the Philadelphia area for more than 20 years. Along with the Blue Chips, he is the bandleader and drummer for Angry Young Band: The Billy Joel Tribute and The Posers: 90s Tribute, and regularly sits in with other groups in the area.
No lighting, staging or sound requirements - we are self-contained.
