Blake has been playing music since he was 5. He studied piano and guitar as a child and played in Minneapolis bands as a teen. He picked up the mandolin and banjo while living in northern Washington State. After returning to Minnesota he studied with mandolin master Peter Ostroushko. In 2000, he entered McNally Smith College of Music where he studied under legendary Jazz guitarist Mike elliot among others.
After graduating with a degree in guitar performance, Blake played in a local bluegrass band and several jazz bands before moving to Tampa Florida to join Middle Rhythm Session. MRS toured the country while settling in their studio/venue/home outside of Tampa. Blake left MRS in 2007 to join roots Reggae band Tribal Style (multiple winner of best of the bay reggae band and best band).
Tribal Style, an intensely original quartet consisting of three brothers and Blake, were raised in Westmoreland, Jamaica, and moved to California in the 90's. Now residing in tampa, since blake joined, the band, they have shared the stage with Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Steel Pulse, Toots and the Maytals, Morgan Heritage, Eek a Mouse, Yellowman and many other reggae giants.
In 2008, Blake and drummer Matt Salvador formed the New orleans tribute band Swamp Logic. The five piece band brings the New Orleans sound to Tampa paying tribute to Dr. John, the Neville Brothers, Louis Armstrong and more.
Blake is also half of the Reggae duo Black & Tenn. Playing mostly smaller venues in the bay area they were featured at the Ybor City festival Tropical heatwave.
Blake also plays in several country bands in the bay area including Clemons Road and Easy Posse. They play regularly around florida and have opened for several large country acts such as Gretchen Wilson, Chris Cagle and Mitt Romney.
Blake is also a popular guitar, piano, mandolin, ukulele and bass teacher. He teaches out of a studio in Hyde Park in Tampa, all ages all styles and truly loves sharing the gift of music with others.
Most recently he has added song placement for TV shows to his work, recording out of a home studio in Tampa and working with a group of other writers out of Tampa and LA.
Additional Booking Notes
Really all I need is an outlet and a chair, everything else I will provide. I do not own lighting or staging but anything can be rented. There is really no event I have not been able to accommodate equipment wise, I believe I can make anything happen with an extension cord and some duct tape. We can discuss any technical specifics on the phone after booking.

With the power of the internet and ipads I literally can play any song on the spot as long as I'm somewhat familiar with it. I typically do blues/jazz/reggae/classic rock/folk/jam/bluegrass/pretty instrumental. I can accommodate quite well. I will put together a loose setlist for each event individually depending on the appropriate style/feel. It helps if you can give me a heads up on a general style for example: Country/Jazz/classical/classic rock/reggae etc.
