Black Market Trio plays Lounge, Jazz, Latin Jazz, Afro-Cuban, New Orleans/Dixieland and Funk music you will love: the sound of sweet, golden-flecked sensuality crossed with dynamic hip churnin' music. Scott Andrews, singer & saxophonist, has led the trio for over 14 years. The band includes the mind-blowing bassist James Gallardo and highly talented conga/drummer Sean Sullivan.
Black Market Trio shows comprise original & cover songs from cool jazz, lounge, funk, afro, latin, exotica, and bossa nova eras - songs like Dos Gardenias, Girl From Ipanema, Latin Fever, Harlem Nocturne, Iko Iko, Come to New Orleans, Bang Bang, Night In Tunisia, Mr. Magic. Best of all, we get people dancing!!
I was so elated to book Scott and his Black Market Trio outta Pismo. The venue was top notch and the band stepped up to match that with the coolest and funkiest jazz chops on the California coast. My family birthday ho'down was a major success and everyone was more than impressed and satisfied. Darrell was such a gentleman and shared his percussion set up for my drumming family members to sit in. Scott ripped the sax with dexterous agility and verve and James was walking that up right and fretless electric with the finesse of boat captain at high sea. These guys are the real deal. Can't wait to book 'em again some time. For the REAL jazz lovers, this is your bag. Thanks fellows, you steered the boat to the sweetest waters and kept us afloat in pure bliss the whole way through.
Black Market Trio was amazing! Arrived, set up, and began pumping out smooth silky Jazz that was perfect for our Mardi Gras event. Really easy to work! Highly recommended!!
The band arrived on time and appropriately dressed. They performed well during the procession and even played an extra number while the crowed filed into the reception hall. I think everyone enjoyed their performance.

Black Market Trio played the music for my Birthday Celebration and everyone shared with me how they really enjoyed their music and what great musicians, especially the Saxophone 🎷. The band members were courteous and accommodating to all requests. Thank you so much for making my Birthday a memorable event.

What to Expect
The "warm havana nights" sound of Scott Andrews' sizzlin' saxophone, Joe Duran's cookin' bass, and Sean Sullivan's smokin' hot bongo and conga drums fill the air with a headstrong and cool confidence.
You know you have heard many of these songs before...back in the days when martini's were standard nooner fare... but have you heard them played like this?
It's a whole new re-imagined sound, the playing especially gentle yet fiery, the counterpoint deft and delicate, the sound so damn "cool" that you have to call it that, recreated in a trio form - minimalist style - by three masterful musicians who swing, funk, and pound out a conga dance like no other within miles from the Central Coast of California.
Since 2005, Black Market Trio enlivens events, parties, wine and art gatherings, festivals, premiere stage events, corporate events, benefits, house parties, and more.
If you are not yet a Black Market Trio fan, you will be after one experience. You may even decide to take up the saxophone, bass, or bongo drums yourself - their enthusiasm for their crafty rhythms is that infectious - and practice 'til your fingers get blood-blisters and your wrists carpel tunnel syndrome. But don't say you weren't warned!
Black Market Trio can stylishly blend in the background or come to the forefront and bring the dancers alive with taboo-influenced, rhythmic saxophone-screamin', cowbell-beatin', bass-thumpin' Latin Fever!
It's a vibe that will last in the memories of each listener for years!
Black Market Trio is San Luis Obispo County's Premiere Latin Jazz Trio performing for live music events throughout Central Coast counties (including San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Monterey).
