Benjamin Young Trio

If hiring as a bassist, I will arrive on time with all necessary equipment. I will know all of the repertoire, and execute it a high level.

If hired as a group (Jazz band), we will arrive with all of our equipment and set up whenever we need to based on the event. A request list can be sent, and we will make sure to include those songs in our set. We can be flexible with set lengths, but generally we will play 45min-1.5hrs and then take short breaks accordingly.

Benjamin is a bassist originally from Boston MA.
He began studying music at age 3 starting with violin and eventually graduated to double bass at age 16.
Benjamin attended Berklee College of Music where he had many opportunities to perform with world renowned artists including John Oates, Kevin Mahogany, New York Voices, Kurt Elling, Becca Stevens, Mario Jose, and many others.

Benjamin is very diverse in his music. He plays in outfits ranging from straight ahead jazz to top 40 pop music. He enjoys the challenge of playing all styles of music. As member of MIBII, Benjamin played for weddings, and corporate events around the New England Area. He was also on staff at Berklee College of Music as an accompanist until 2018. At Berklee he played all different styles of music with a number of incredible performers.

Currently, Benjamin lives in New York City. He holds a busy performing schedule in and around the city. He can be often seen playing at places like Harlem Wine Room, Rue B, Silvana, Shrine World Music Venue, Rockwood Music Hall, Pianos, Williamsburg Music Center, Two Saints, Radegast Bier Hall, and many others.

Benjamin's latest music venture is a jazz quartet featuring all original music and YEStet, a collective guitar trio with Kevin Scollins and Willis Edmundson. He also plays bass for Jade Collective. You can hear Ben on recent releases by Dabin Ryu, Andrew Denicola, and Shai Jaschek.
