March 3, 2020Do not book this vendor. I should have realized that if her reviews were 3 years old, there was something wrong. Up until the booking, the vendor was responsive. After the booking, there was slow or no response. Needless to say, one week before the event, I had to cancel and find someone else! Don't waste your time and energy.

Prior to booking, we had an initial consultation where I gathered the details needed for your father’s celebration, followed by several additional communications. In the weeks leading up to the event, I was also recovering from pneumonia, which I communicated to you. While I did respond to your messages, I understand that my response time did not meet your expectations.
A week before the event, you made the decision to cancel and secure another entertainer. I respected that decision, although I remained prepared to fulfill our original booking.
I take my professional commitments seriously and have been performing and working with clients for many years. I regret that our expectations regarding the frequency and timing of communication did not align, and I wish you and your family all the best.

I provide my own professional sound system and microphones for most corporate speaking engagements, comedy performances, and private events in venues accommodating up to approximately 500 guests.
For larger venues, appropriate in-house sound and lighting should be provided.
For performances of my one-woman show, Staying on the Right Side of Sanity: Diary of a Dirt Road Diva, the venue must provide:
• A minimum performance area of 8’ x 11’
• Appropriate stage lighting
• A professional sound system suitable for the venue
• A wireless lapel/lavalier microphone or compatible microphone system
For certain keynote presentations, workshops, or interactive corporate programs, I may also request a flip chart with easel and markers or a dry-erase board.
Specific technical needs will be discussed in advance and can be adjusted based on the venue, audience size, and type of performance.

Influences
My material is influenced by real-life experiences, family, relationships, work, aging, faith, personal growth, and the everyday challenges that connect people across generations. My performances combine humor, storytelling, encouragement, and thoughtful observations to entertain audiences while promoting empathy, resilience, wellness, and positive personal development.
I was first inspired by Carol Burnett. As a child, the joy her show brought me each week made me want to entertain others and share my gift of laughter.
I was also deeply influenced by the mentors who supported me while I was growing up. I was fortunate to have a strong foundation provided by my Sunday school teachers and several phenomenal schoolteachers who not only educated me but also nurtured, encouraged, and mentored me. Their love and guidance shaped my goals and dreams for adulthood and ultimately changed the course of my life.
My childhood included trauma and challenges that affected my self esteem and motivation. My success is, in many ways, the result of having role models who believed in my abilities before I recognized them in myself. My mentors saw my potential, challenged me to dream big, and encouraged me to aim high.
Because of their influence, I am committed to paying it forward by reaching back and helping others—especially women and children—recognize their gifts, discover their potential, and believe in what is possible for their lives.
Speakers and comedians who have influenced and inspired me include Terrie Williams, Bertice Berry, Trevor Noah, Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Les Brown, Patrick Henry, Sinbad, Judy Carter, and Dave Chappelle. I am also inspired by groundbreaking women in comedy and entertainment, including Moms Mabley, LaWanda Page, Joan Rivers, Whoopi Goldberg, Lily Tomlin, Ruth Buzzi, Phyllis Diller, Lucille Ball, Gilda Radner, Wanda Sykes, Rosie O’Donnell, and Penny Marshall.
Additional influences include Chris Rock, D.L. Hughley, Flip Wilson, and the Wayans family.
