Belly Dance by Saroya

Saroya tailors each of her shows to the customer's wishes. Shows can be any combination of teaching, lecture, & performance. Saroya uses upbeat Middle Eastern music that appeals to all audiences. All shows are very interactive, & Saroya always encourages audience participation.

A lifelong dancer, Saroya has been devoted to the art of Middle Eastern dance since her college days. She is fascinated by the wide variety of dance styles & ethnicities encompassed within the dance form. Saroya currently offers classes in all levels of dance experience & covers many topics, including Turkish, Persian, Tunisian, and Egyptian styles; props including veil, cane, and zills; & performance embellishments such as stage presence & improvisation.

Saroya has performed as a soloist for many years, in restaurants, for private functions, at festivals, & at numerous seminar and workshop showcases. Her goal in performance, is to present something both challenging to the performer & enjoyable for the audience.

From her earliest childhood memories, Saroya has always been fascinated with multiculturalism. Her formal studies led her to a BA in Foreign Languages and a Masters of International Business.

Saroya’s study of Middle Eastern dance has enriched her life by including much more than dance steps. Saroya has also gained an extensive education in the related subjects of Middle Eastern cultures, peoples, dances, & history.

Using her years of personal experience working & performing with people of Middle Eastern heritage, Saroya can translate Middle Eastern cultural life to western audiences with ease. She has presented various combinations of lecture, demonstration, & teaching for several educational institutions, from middle school through university level.
