Events greater distance than 30 miles may be subject to a travel fee.

Hi I’m Rebecca Jones - experienced KY certified STARS bartender / event planner since 2007. My experience includes high volume night club speed bartending, restaurant or catered bartending, event bartending, with a focus now on weddings, private and corporate events.

I have worked full-time at Toyota in the office for 26+ yrs which is still my primary job. So I do this part-time for extra play money to be quite honest. Mature, drama -free & drug free & happily married.

I also know a lot of other bartenders so if I’m booked I can potentially suggest someone or if your event requires more than 1 bartender I could provide that as well depending on availability.

To clear up any confusion on liquor license that a venue has asked for: Please know that KY Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) only requires a bartender be STARS certified to serve alcohol for your event.

Private Bartenders typically work under your caterers license or under the liquor license maintained by your event venue.

If your venue does not have a liquor license it is your responsibility to obtain any required temporary event liquor license they are asking for for the day of your event from the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) office in the county where your event will be held. (Typically around $200). My quotes do not include this additional charge… only includes my bartending services.

Most established venues should have a relationship with and know the rules with their county Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) office.

Weddings with open bar (not cash bar) are considered private events and local ABC office would typically not require a liquor license. If the venue insists please contact the ABC office.

ABOUT THE LIQUOR LICENSE:
Weddings and private events do not require the temp 1-day special alcohol “event liquor license” due to not being a 501c nonprofit or civic event.
Confirmed by KY ABC Specialist at Lexington Police Dept- STAR certifications are enough credentials for private bartenders to serve at Private event venues for the following reasons: 1. serving at a private party, 2. serving at a private address, 3. serving only invited guests & not open to public, 4. open bar, not a cash bar, Same as a birthday party, graduation party or super bowl party held at your house at a private residence where beer, wine, soda, water etc. is available only for invited guests.

ABOUT LIQUOR LIABILITY INSURANCE:
There are only three scenarios to qualify for liquor liability coverage:

1) The Insured must be in the business of selling and distributing alcohol.
2) The Insured must be the Host providing alcohol to his guests.
3) A special event where liquor is not sold but a liquor license permit is required.

As with any service organization, private bartending and catering companies need business insurance. You will often be asked for a certificate of insurance or additional insured endorsement by the venue. Liquor liability coverage can only be acquired if you actually sell the alcohol or are added to a special event policy.
As an independent contractor you cannot obtain liquor liability coverage unless you are providing and selling the alcohol. Commercial Liquor liability is usually associated with a liquor license. In the event of a non-commercial exposure the liability rests with the promoter or host and can be picked up in the special event policy for the function.
