I'd heard Be Brave Bold Robot many times but live far from them, in Minnesota. But Dean (their lead singer/songwriter was visiting Saint Paul and I got him to play at our home to a small group of people ...and he was GREAT!

What to expect
I enjoy banterin, so like to inject little jokes and talk to the audience as I play my songs. I think I put on a good solo show. or I can play with the band, which is a fun experience unto itself: viola, shredding electric guitar lines, three part harmonies, funky rhythm section. good stuff!
About
Dean Haakenson owns a cute little home in a diverse low income neighborhood called Broderick, near downtown Sacramento, and likes to walk around town as often as he can. He has been playing his songs with a full band for pert near 20 years, has fanbase in much of Northern California. He can drive wherever. He can play solo or with full band.
Additional booking notes
I have a smaller PA setup and extra mics if you want just me solo and want to have a mic to make announcements or something. and I have a larger PA system if you want the full band. we just need a grounded electrical outlet, if you have a power strip, that's good too, but we have one. I and the band have made a comfy stage out of any and all environments.

Chris Smither, Andrew Bird, Counting Crows, Pearl Jam, Barenaked Ladies, Atmosphere, Blackalicious, Michael Jackson, Weezer, Fountains of Wayne, Flight of the Conchords, Run The Jewels, Justin Farren, Dave Matthews Band -- all sorts of songwriter stuff, hip hop rap stuff, funk fusion. I have said I sound like Counting Crows meets Barenaked Ladies meets Frank Zappa meets Nerd Rap. something like that. "Indie Folk Rock Pop" is the genre moniker I often use... music genres are tricky I suppose.
