Brandon’s life reflects resilience shaped through hardship. Once a high school dropout who got into trouble, he returned, finished school, and joined the Marine Corps, where he excelled. He later earned his degree and completed a Ph.D. in 2013 while recovering from spinal fusion surgery. He grew up in a home marked by alcoholism and abuse and survived over seven years of sexual abuse by a cousin. Later, he faced the trauma of his daughter being abused by a trusted neighbor, supporting her through court testimony. He has known professional loss and setbacks, yet continues to rebuild with purpose and determination.

November 12, 2025Mr. Moore came to the Hughes Prison until on November 7th to deliver a motivational story about humble beginnings to strong futures. He was very appreciated and our graduates enjoyed his story.

Brandon grew up in a household with an alcoholic and abusive father and he endured over seven years of sexual abuse at the hands of a cousin. Brandon is most proud to call himself a father and husband. Unfortunately, he has experience with a daughter being abused by a neighbor and close friend. Brandon has been fired from a good job, has been placed on house arrest during the first month of his senior year, and had to endure his children testifying in the courtroom alone against his daughter's perpetrator. Brandon wants to share some of his stories and strategies he has used to develop resilience because it is hard to be a teenager today.
