Dr. Richard Pagan is a dedicated, dynamic, and articulate leader, administrator, and educator with extensive years of combined experience in aviation, higher education, training, business, and military as well as a proven and successful relationship builder and collaborator.He is passionate about helping people achieve their academic and career goals and aspirations. Dr. Pagan enjoys working with the community and industry partners, workforce and economic development boards, K-12 public schools, and community interest groups. Prior to forming his own company, Aviation Industry Training Consultation, LLC he was the Division Chair for the Transportation Technologies Division at Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC), a position he held for about three years. A retired Air Force member, Dr. Pagan has extensive experience in aviation maintenance and operations. He has certifications in human factors and aerospace safety and holds a Doctorate in Leadership Studies (Education), a Master of Aeronautical Science, and has degrees in Avionics Technology, and Occupational Instruction, and is a certified Master Instructor for the USAF. He has taught aviation for 17 years in both baccalaureate and associate degree programs. He has been part of the community college system since 2001 and in higher education since 1997. Dr. Pagan’s experience as an educator began as a technical instructor for the United States Air Force. He taught for the USAF for over five years. During that time, he attained Master Instructor, the highest level given to military instructors. Upon retiring from the Air force after 20 years Dr. Pagan began teaching in higher education. He began his military career as an avionics technician working on the F-15 fighter aircraft and retired as the Superintendent of the 12th Airlift Flight at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. He served in Germany and throughout the US.
He is married to the beautiful Patricia Pagan and together they have five adult children. Dr. Pagan is originally from Gary, Indiana and Patricia hails from Long Island, New York. He and his wife have owned and operated Parables Events, a dinner theater/events and wedding chapel business. He was involved in dinner theater as an actor, stage hand, sound technician and building manager. He enjoys running, long walks on the beach with Patricia, leadership, reading, spending time with his children, and the many divine blessings he receives daily.
Dr. Pagan is a first generation college graduate. He speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys salsa dancing.
