I am a singer and piano player with a lively and percussive style in the spirit of Elton John. I love to lead my audience in sing-alongs of well-known pop/rock songs, from hard rock such as Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit to tender ballads like Billy Joel's Just the Way You Are.
I enjoy playing audience requests and whatever music appeals to the crowd at a given show - so each event is different! I have a repertoire of over 200 songs from the Beatles to Kesha.
My mission is to bring people from different generations and backgrounds together on an uplifting musical journey to celebrate the most special of occasions... or just a fun night out!
Austin Klipp is a very nice person. He has a great outgoing personality and he is a very accomplished pianist. He can also sing along to encourage others to sing and he can perform along many genres of music. He made our party extremely fun!! He is the best pianist for our size house party we have ever had. Thank you Austin!!
Response from Austin Klipp:
Thanks so much for the kind review, Diane! I had a lot of fun with your guests and look forward to next time!
What to Expect
I am very good at reading a crowd and catering a particular show to that crowd, so each experience is different! I am equally adept at engaging guests for a raucous singalong or providing peaceful background music.
I'm Austin Klipp, a piano player and vocalist based in Boston, MA. My primary interest is leading sing-alongs of well-known pop/rock songs, in all sorts of settings. For example: I led an all-request dance show at Howl at the Moon in Louisville, KY, for tourists celebrating the week leading up to the Kentucky Derby. At Mohegan Sun's Sol Toro, I've entertained a bachelorette party by performing an all-too-real-sounding imitation of Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a Woman." And of course, I've led many a late-night rendition of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” for countless audiences. In addition to their location in Louisville, I've also performed at Howl at the Moon in Boston and Foxboro, MA, and have been seen with New England Dueling Pianos at Chunky’s Cinemas (in multiple locations in NH).
I’ve also performed in much more intimate settings, such as in a living room for a close group of 20 friends and family, leading a specially prepared sing-along of their group’s favorite 60’s and 70’s rock songs. Or playing jazz and tender love songs to celebrate a couple’s 50th wedding anniversary – at the same hall where they were first married 50 years ago to the day. These performances have taken place in as many different settings as you can imagine – from celebrating a wedding on an island off the coast of Maine with a request show, to a beautiful fall Mount Washington Cruise Line voyage in the Lake District of New Hampshire, performing classics for a group of foliage watchers.
In addition to these individual performances, I have also played keyboards for an original country band and a Latin jazz band at various locations around Boston, including Ryle's, Tavern at the End of the World, Sally O'Brien's, and Buchanan Cafe. I have studied and practiced classical and jazz piano for over 20 years, sing as a tenor in Chorus Pro Musica and have been trained in the Somatic Voicework vocal method at Celia Slattery Voice and Performance Studio in Somerville, MA.
My style can be as raucous or refined as you'd like, and I'm happy to work with you to develop the perfect set list for your event, or to take requests on the spot. No matter the setting of your event, or the style and feel that you want for music, I can tailor the experience to you. In addition to pop/rock sing-alongs, I have an extensive repertoire in classical, jazz, Broadway and sacred music, and have provided both ceremonial and background music for private events including weddings, cocktail hours, religious services, and other special events. You can visit my website www.klippermusic.com for a full repertoire list and additional audio/video samples.
Two past jobs I've had include working at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL, and the London 2012 Olympic Games, and those experiences helped me learn how to cater every experience to the particular customer. No two events are the same, and I believe in the power of music to facilitate both joyful group experiences as well as deeply personal ones. Customer service is of equal importance to me as musical excellence, and my pledge is to work with you to perfect the feel of your event so that your guests will remember it for years to come.
Additional Booking Notes
I can bring my own keyboard, mic and small speaker and set it all up in advance as a part of my quote. My setup is small and compact and easily fits into the corner of a small room, but the sound can also spread to fill a larger function space. I can easily hook into a venue's PA system if preferred and am happy to connect with them and take care of these details!
