My name is Ashley Elizabeth, I’m a mom of 4 kids. I started photography at 15 when my uncle asked me to help him with a wedding, handed me a camera and said “Have at it kid.” I fell I love with the simplicity and complexity of capturing an image, telling a story, sharing a moment. I perused art in college, got married and spent the next 10 years building a home and raising babies. Once the opportunity to pick up the camera again came, I was excited to get back out there and do what I loved only to find the world of photography had changed drastically in this new age of social media. I felt like I was starting all over, like a beginner! I buckled down and began learning all the new aspects of photography.

As I grew my business and expanded areas of service, I found I loved creative portrayers in the studio, playing with lights and shadows and colors. Creating new dimensions and shapes on the canvas. I fell in love with the human canvas as expression of emotion with light and darkness my brushes.

As I explored more of the community I loved helping small local businesses build portfolios of their own artwork for their websites, learning their stories and helping them grow.

Food has always been a passion, a love language. Enjoying the aroma, the flavors, the textures. Capturing food in photographs was just another form of love and pleasure.

The fast pace of events, eyes darting around looking for those moments, the highlights, anticipating movement stimulates my creative eye like no other form. It pushes me to be in the moment, upfront, not held back in the corner like I would otherwise be a simple observer.

Photography gives me the tools to reach people I would never talk to as an introverted observer. It opens doors and opportunities. It’s not just holding up a camera, pointing and clicking. It’s so much more than that. It’s a tool for connection, networking, growing and testing my skills in all areas as an artist and person.
