Antonio Vergara Music

I am a Colombian-American saxophonist and composer from FL with 5+ years of experience in events and over 10 years as a musician. I have performed professionally throughout Turkey, Greece, India, and the US. I am passionate about the intersection between the arts, and I’ve collaborated with visual artists and film scorers. I also perform as a sideman in the Jazz and Latin genres in New York City and have been part of musical productions, performing on saxophone, flute, and clarinet.

My interests currently are in ethnomusicology, where I’m especially fascinated by the intersection of music, dance, and culture—particularly within the folklore of the Afro-Caribbean and Black American diaspora. I am passionate about composition, and it's my way of expressing the diverse musical and cultural influences that inspire me. I enjoy drawing connections between mediums of expression that might seem unrelated at first glance but find their roots in the same springs of human ingenuity and resilience from which we all arise. Collaborating with other artists, including visual artists and dancers, is also important to me, as I see it as consistent with the compassion and tolerance that were required for these art forms to emerge.
