Overview

I’m a dynamic singer and bandleader with charm and style of a bygone era and an expansive repertoire of French, Brazilian, and American standards old and new. I’d be thrilled to tailor an ensemble to meet the needs of your event - Jazz duo, trio, or quartet, or something more elaborate if you and your guests are looking to get down and dance!

Anna Laura Quinn

Her music style was exactly what I wanted for my birthday party. She arrived on time, set up her equipment and began singing. Every one of my guest had nothing but rave reviews about her. The song selections, her beautiful voice and the music was not so loud that they could not have polite conversation. Several of my guests asked where I found her and told them about gigsalad.com. I great addition to my party plans. I will surely consider her for future events.

What to expect

I am the lead vocalist for a number of projects and the dimensions of my performance can be adjusted to suit to your event needs. I perform regularly in duo trio and quartet formats that are good for smaller events, and can create a band up with up to seven people (with full rhythm section and horn section) for a bigger party sound. Please note that I do not play solo and will almost always need to hire at least one accompanying musician to perform with me (either guitar or piano) unless you are specifically in need of an acapella singer..

About

New Orleans-based vocalist, bandleader, and arranger Anna Laura Quinn is gaining notice for her particular blend of contemporary jazz, New Orleans R&B, well-loved tunes from the American Songbook, French and Brazilian music, and more, all delivered with style, sensitivity, emotional power, and a joie de vivre that recalls the charm and mystique of a bygone era.

A 2021 graduate of the Jazz Studies masters program at the University of New Orleans, Anna made her debut appearance at the 50th annual New Orleans Jazz Fest with the UNO Jazz All-Stars in 2019. While at UNO, she performed alongside such internationally renowned guest artists as Terence Blanchard, Kurt Elling, Ellis Marsalis, and the legendary Dr. Lonnie Smith, to name a few. Her other appearances in New Orleans have been at such venerable jazz venues as Snug Harbor, Dos Jefes and at the New Orleans Jazz Museum.
In 2022, Anna released her first full length album Open the Door. The record features nine of her own arrangements, which Jazz Times critic Andrew Gilbert praises for "artfully thread[ing] the jazz needle” and “establishing her own winsome identity as a savvy vocalist and arranger with an appealing sound, unfailing taste, and expansive palette of influences."

Anna is propelled by her unwavering dedication to music, visual art, and collaboration, and is constantly seeking out experiences that will open the door for personal growth, self-understanding, and a deepening sense of community. She brings this spirit to her craft as a vocalist, leaning into the improvisational essence of the jazz idiom and delivering lyrics and melodies with sincerity, humor, and imagination. Anna hopes that her music may convey a spectrum of emotions and above all a heartfelt expression of her joy.
