What to expect

My audiences can expect interaction alongside their introspection.

AndYes delivers deep social and personal commentary broken up by fun bursts of interactivity and playful humor with the audience.

He is a singer, and a Nationally-traveled improv comedian, as well as a spoken word artist and AndYes incorporates all of this into his act to deliver a performance and workshop series that entertains as much as it educates.

About

Born in Detroit, Michigan, AndYes is a first-generation Cuban-American asexual spoken word artist with Major Depression, featured on Button Poetry, who works with artist-support and arts activism group Zero Forbidden Goals.

In 2015, he represented the city of Sacramento in the National Poetry Slam (the city’s first representation at NPS in 8+ years), The California Democratic Convention, and 100 Thousand Poets for Change overseas in Salerno, Italy.

AndYes has also been featured across Sacramento as part of the uprise of the arts in the city, as well as multiple tours of the West Coast, and Europe.

Additional booking notes

Staging and sound are requested but certainly not mandatory.

AndYes has worked with a bare floor
surrounded by the audience all the way up to festival stages with professional lighting and sound.

We pride ourselves on knowing that any setup we're given, we can work with and produce quality, professional work.

Set list

My 5 Main Poems (there are plenty of others - these tend to be my highest requested):
- "Finding Home In Your Mars" - about being multiracial and finding self love as well as giving love to the world around you.
- "Pretty Thoughts" - On body image issues, and finding a way to love yourself when others mistreat you for your body type.
- "Man Vs. Depression" - Living with mental illness, a real (yet hopeful) look at what the condition is like, put in terms of a professional wrestling match.
- "Carbon Copies" - on mental illness and its importance in our society, as well as the importance of taking care of our unhomed communities.
- "Revolution is From Within" - about self-growth and healing.
