Excerpt from “Andy’s Music Theory”:
No musical styles have had a bigger impact on my life than the old, traditional Black Gospel of Mahalia Jackson, the Fairfield Four, the Staple Singers, Josh White, & Delta Blues of Son House & Muddy Waters, the Texas Blues of Lightnin’ Hopkins & the finger style guitar of Mississippi John Hurt, just to name a few.

Though the group was recently formed, Andy has appeared on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor as well as many, churches and theater venues around Kansas.

Influences and inspiration

No musical styles have had a bigger impact on my life than the old, traditional Black Gospel of Mahalia Jackson, the Fairfield Four, the Staple Singers, Josh White, & Delta Blues of Son House & Muddy Waters, the Texas Blues of Lightnin’ Hopkins & the finger style guitar of Mississippi John Hurt, just to name a few. Whenever things are hard, not right, & going all wrong, it’s this that grabs me & sets it right. It says, “Yes, things are bad right now, but you’re going to be all right. Just keep movin’ son.”
