April 24, 2025Andrea did a beautiful job for my family at a service we held for my sister at the Chinese Pavilion site in the park. She played for each speaker and for each butterfly 🦋 release. It was stunning. Then she did an awesome performance of Hallelujah when we released the Doves 🕊️. It was both moving and magical 🪄. My family loved having her as part of this extremely special and meaningful occasion. Thank you Andrea for playing your part in making it an extraordinary experience for all of us. Catherine

March 26, 2024Andrea played so beautifully at my mom’s service. Her music made the ceremony very meaningful for us and gave it such warmth. Andrea, recommended a song to be played that we had never heard but was unbelievably perfect for the occasion and exactly what we needed for middle of our service. She really made a tough day for us very touching with her music.

Andrea Gutierrez is a Colombian-American composer and flutist from Fairfield, California now based in Charlottesville, Virginia. As a composer, she particularly enjoys writing electroacoustic/electronic works and has composed pieces for several student films, projects, and recitals. As a flutist, she has performed either as a soloist or collaborated with various chamber and large ensembles in the San Francisco Bay Area and was an Emerging Artist Fellow for Chamber Music Silicon Valley’s (phone number hidden)4 season. Recently, Andrea has been featured as a cohort member for Quinteto Latino’s Biannual Seminario, performed as a soloist in CMSV’s 2023 Music Festival, and traveled to Mexico as an assistant flute/woodwind instructor for Opera de Tijuana’s music camp.
Andrea received her A.A. in Performance from Napa Valley College, studying under flutist Jennifer Hunt; received her B.M. in Composition from San Jose State University where she studied with composer Dr. Christopher Luna-Mega and studied flute with Dr. Ray Furuta; and is currently pursuing a PhD in Composition at the University of Virginia.
