Live shows, blissful times!

Overview

Although I am semi-retired, I will consider providing live sitar music in and around my home location in South Bend, Indiana.

With over 20 years of experience, it is my pleasure to bring the magic of the sitar to small parties, concerts, yoga studios, university classes, recording sessions, religious and cultural events, and more. I currently do not currently have a partner who plays the tabla, so my accompaniment is electronic. For a more complete cultural experience of the sitar in action, please consider searching for a sitar/tabla duo.

About

Allen deSomer is a songwriter and composer for film and television based in the American Midwest. His musical interests begin at home and span the globe. Allen's fingerstyle acoustic guitar recordings are the backbone of his growing portfolio, but his rare specialty is Indian sitar tracks for commercial applications. Allen constantly expands his creative boundaries with challenging new projects.

Credits include placements with: Harpo Productions, Univision, Showtime, the Style Network, and direct licensing for a leading snack food brand.

Allen DeSomer is inspired by a wide range of artists in genres such as Folk and Rock, as well as World, Orchestral, Electronica and New Age.

Additional booking notes

The sitar is a quiet instrument that responds reasonably well to amplification (to be provided by the venue). If a sound system is required, the musician is prepared to bring a microphone and appropriate microphone stand. If a drummer is also requested, both artists will come prepared with microphones and stands, if required, but a sound system must be provided by the venue.

Sitar players traditionally perform while seated on the floor. This artist has adapted his playing style to accommodate performance conditions where chairs or stools are more appropriate.

Setup time for tuning is ideal, but not required.
