Rang(Raju) Bankapur did a beautiful display of his flute playing talent last week for our son, Aseem Jha’s wedding reception. The non stop playing was phenomenal and ranged from traditional wedding songs like “London Thumakda” to jazzy Bollywood numbers like “Badan Pe Sitare” from oldie goldies like “Ek pyaar ka Nagma hai” to latest ones like “ Main Tenu”. The ambience and atmosphere created by his mellifluous playing and his command over this simple wooden wind instrument was unbelievable. What one does not even notice is that he flawlessly moves between songs and scales, swapping flutes of different sizes as his music keeps enchanting and enthralling the crowds. His flute play is truly a treat for the ear, mind and soul. One just has to experience it to feel the joy.

RAJU BANKAPUR is a very versatile artiste and multi talented musician. A well known professional musician & singer in Chicago for the past 20 years. He is amazing on the Indian Bamboo Flute (Bansuri) , on which he plays melodious heart warming Soft Bollywood music. His clients have a very good experience with what he can deliver. Known to many as Kishore Kumar of Chicago, Raju has had the distinct pleasure of singing with many Bollywood legendary singers like Kavita Krishnamurthy and Bappi Lahiri. He has performed in more than 300 shows all across the USA and entertained folks on Masti Cruise and Maharaja Cruises to Bahamas and Alaska with his foot tapping melodious dance numbers.
Being the first one to start Karaoke Singing in Chicago almost 20 years ago, he was instrumental in organizing the Chicago Indian Icon Karaoke Singing Completion in 2013 with support from his team.
He has given time to the community through performances at Fundraising Events for many organizations and several Bhajan programs for all Temples.
