Great musicians!

They were in tune as far as I could tell, timely, professional, and our senior residents really enjoyed the pieces that they picked out. They also played at a good volume that was appropriate for background music, which can apparently be a lot to ask for from some other musicians. I had no complaints.

Hired as: String Quartet

What to expect

Before you decide to book us, let's talk over your details, planning the best Live Music to make your Special Event even better. Let's make sure we are all on the same page!

We do only ONE event per day--some other groups subcontract out among a larger group, the person you deal with is NOT present at your event, oh my! However I am present at all events I contract (unless I am sick in which case I have some good subs).

On the day of event, we check traffic, parking, road construction, and allow plenty of extra time. Upon arrival at your Event, your guests & other vendors will appreciate our professional behavior, attractive appearance / grooming, and friendly demeanor. If you require additional time such as at your wedding rehearsal, we can arrange this too.

While performing we wear Concert Black (dressy/ tuxedo) or for extremely hot/cold weather we will dress for the weather.

During performance, your guests will appreciate our high level of artistry, skills, and organized sheet music folders to minimize page turns or other gaps in performance. We do our best to store our equipment out of the way. During parties & receptions we do take short breaks, standard for our industry. We are happy to coincide our breaks with your toasts or other announcements if your Coordinator will be in touch with us.

After performance we clear our equipment from the area quickly as needed.
You, and your guest's happiness is our goal!

Additional booking notes

All services provided upon receipt of written AFM Contract & deposit--please request a copy of contract prior to booking, so we can be sure everything is as you wish!

We provide our instruments, sheet music, music stands, portable lighting for our sheet music (your venue still needs to provide ambient lighting), and transportation within the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area. Locations beyond the metro area may have additional fee to compensate for additional Travel Time.

We need your venue to provide one armless chair for each musician, and sufficient floor space (about 6 x 8 feet) away from crowded doorways. We will work with your Coordinator or venue to determine the best location at your venue.

Outdoors events require protection from sun, rain, winds, etc, which will harm our expensive wood instruments. An Indoors alternative or tent with walls is a good choice. If you do not have a tent, we will set up in a shady location. Some venues (like golf courses) do not allow tents because it will damage the turf--however sometimes they will put up their own tents. For most events we perform without any sound assistance; if you require amplification please consider your venue's existing amplification (which is customized to their acoustics), your DJ, or a separate sound system vendor.

Testimonials

Cheryl took into consideration my favorite songs and played many of them while pictures were being taken prior to the processional march. She was very easy to work with and very professional. I would definately recommend her to friends and family looking for a violinst for any event.

Having the opportunity to meet Cheryl Zylla prior to the wedding was very satisfying. She wanted to meet our needs in every way she could and her selection of music was perfect. She is very professional, yet approachable and friendly. Our guests enjoyed her music and it really added a special touch to the reception. I would recommend her very highly. Gigmsters provided an opportunity to make the connection with A Beautiful Violin very easy and we also would recommend your service to anyone who asks. - Barbara T

I highly recommend this company for any type of venue. A Beautiful Violin & Trillium Ensembles was very flexible and understanding of the changing plans and very accomodating for special requests. Their violin & cello performance during the proposal dinner brought my now fiancee to tears while I was on bended knee. This event was exponentially enhanced and made even more memorable with A Beautiful Violin & Trillium Ensembles.

Cheryl Zylla is a true professional and quite talented. She played all of my requests. She was on time and is very adaptable to your needs. You can also hear her on youtube. I would certainly recommend her to a friend.

– Lisa H

Our experience with Cheryl was exceptional. From the first contact made, Cheryl gave our wedding personal, individual attention, getting to know my husband and I and our personal interests to make our music selection special. She was very flexible, as our ceremony location was moved due to weather, and was prepared for unexpected weather as well. She was very professional, and also used her experience to guide us in making decisions. Finally, she is a beautiful musician and violinist. My husband and I are very happy with the music she played, and guests are still complementing her.

– April Z

Our violinist (Cheryl Zylla) was not only professional but played the most beautiful solo music for our wedding and reception. We suggest everyone reading this HURRY UP and book her while she still has openings. She even stayed for dinner and fun at our reception. We had many guests ask me where we found her. Now she is like a friend. We got along so well. We would like everyone to know not only can she play every and any song you throw at her, but plays it with style and class! She was the cherry on top of a wonderful wedding. A+ Thanks Cheryl! All our Love, Maggie and Dan Kersey

– Maggie M

Cheryl was exceptional! She is not only a wonderful violinist, she is a wonderful person. Her music was the perfect touch to the wedding and we could not have asked for more. She was professional in every sense of the word. She confirmed the time and schedule and choice of music with us well in advance. She met with the minister and coordinated her performance for the ceremony. She offered assistance beyond her music if it was needed. She was truly an asset to the day and I highly recommend her to anyone.

Cheryl Zylla is the violin behind "A Beautiful Violin." I hired her plus a cello to provide the ceremony music for my wedding at the Minnesota History Center. I had heard the same combo play at a friends wedding at their cabin in rural Minnesota earlier in the year. She travels the state, but is based in the Twin Cities. They did a wonderful job! They arrive and are playing music 30 minutes prior to the ceremony. You will get a total of 90 minutes of music in the basic package, with the option of adding time for additional cost. We selected the ceremony songs, which included classical selections and the Beatles "Here Comes the Sun" for our recessional. Cheryl is willing to learn any song you request. She was easy to work with, professional, and added a classy touch to our ceremony and transition down to dinner. I would recommend her unconditionally.

– thegriffings

Great! Cheryl played solo violin for our ceremony. I thought it sounded nice, and I wish we could have afforded the duo or trio! Overall, she was flexible with the pieces and had good suggestions.

– bluegreenstar

Cheryl and company played contemporary and classic music during our wedding cereremony, and also before and after the ceremony - probably 2 hours in total. There were no problem what so ever....everything went well. Music was great and Cheryl took care of everything, including the planning of the order of the songs, the queing as part of the ceremony, etc. Everthing just flowed perfectly with very little prompting or input from me(us). Cheryl clearly is experienced and was very easy to work with. Thanks for helping make it a great event!

Beautiful Music, They were wonderful. Very helpful and very knowledgeable

– melindas1021

Cheryl did a fantastic job playing solo violin before, during, and after our ceremony. The music was perfect, and it was fantastic that she was able to adjust the length of the verses based on how long it took each member of the wedding party to get down the aisle. She was very easy to work with and she did a fantastic job!

– kerhi002

Farm Wedding, 6/14/14: Cheryl and the Trillium Ensemble were wonderful to work with and added so much to wedding. I was undecided about the ceremony music and Cheryl provided lots of suggestions and guidance. The music was beautiful. I'd definitely recommend them!

– mrsespike

We had an outdoor ceremony and new we wanted something better than an ipod and speakers. IF you listen to the music on their website you will fall in love immediately http://www.a-beautiful-violin.com/ We worked with Cheryl primarily through emails and planned everything, but she had an elbow injury and called the month before the big day, to let us know that her doctor said she had to cancel all of her august weddings, but she did tell us that Ginna was picking up all of the weddings so there was no need to panic. It was all very beautiful she worked with my nephew to play the hawiian version of somewehre over the rainbow he on the ukeule and her on the violin as a special piece

– Linzbinz521

We had a great ceremony with the help of Beautiful Violin & Trillium Ensembles. All the songs we requested were played beautifully. My favorite part was the music played during the celebration of unity-sand ceremony. Our guests also enjoyed the beautiful violin during the cocktail hour. Thanks for making our day a very special one.

– E & S

A Beautiful Violin & Trillium Ensemble are wonderful musicians. During the planning stages, Cheryl was great to work with. In email conversation, she was prompt, clear, and helpful. During the wedding day, the Trillium Ensemble were flexible. Our wedding location changed twice during the day (outside to inside due to rain, and then in cleared up – and we went back to outside). Trillium Ensemble were where they needed to be, even with all of these changes. The music for the wedding was SUPERB!! They have such an elegant sound that brought a level of class and beauty to the wedding. Cheryl and Trillium Ensemble really customized the wedding to fit our needs; they even played an Irish Song (which is where my –now husband – is from). It was great to bring his heritage into the ceremony. Cheryl and the Trillium Ensemble EXCEEDED expectations. We feel so lucky that we selected them for our wedding. We recommend them with high marks!! If you are looking for ceremony musicians to can customize the songs to fit your needs, are professional and easy to work with, and have a beautiful sound – Cheryl Zylla, A Beautiful Violin and the Trillium Ensemble is a great choice.
