Alexander Guini - Percussionist

Playing on the marimba before or during a wedding, funeral, or a church service. Holiday parties where Christmas carols are needed. Dinner parties, office events, island music on a cruise ship or pool deck. Opening act for headlining classical musician. New business grand opening, or library concert. Playing a full set of drums for a band or combo for any type of venue. Private lessons.

I've been playing percussion for over 15+ years. I studied at St. Petersburg College and the University of South Florida, under the direction of John Shaw (Principal Percussionist of the Florida Orchestra) and Robert McCormick (Former Tympanist of the Florida Orchestra). I've had an abundance of performing opportunities throughout college. After college I performed with numerous groups throughout the state of Florida being feature as part of a duo or trio on drum set, involved with nonprofit organizations, or as a marimba soloist. Some notable moments have been the following:

Performed Marimba at the "Enchant Christmas" event hosted at Tropicana Field in 2021.
Featured as a Marimba soloist for Dunedin Concert Band's October 2022 showcase.
Won 3rd place for the American Soloist Competition in 2023 for playing marimba.
Performed congas for the Millennium Ballroom Dance Competition.
Played numerous gigs at various churches and solo artists throughout Pinellas County.
Sight-reads percussion and drum set music for the Richey Community Orchestra in New Port Richey.
Hosts a community percussion ensemble within the Dunedin Music Society.

Along with performing, I have also taught music both privately and publicly and recently have gone back to school to obtain my teacher certificate so I can become a more influential musician to all age levels within the public school system.

If hired for an opportunity to play, I would be elated to showcase my musical abilities with the drum set, marimba, other orchestral percussion instruments, or select world percussion. I can provide my own instruments and equipment as needed and be featured as a soloist (when playing the marimba).

I would require a decent staging area, one that is 12' x 6' or larger. The Marimba is a big instrument. Also, I would require some setting up and breaking down before and after performance. Otherwise, no electrical plugs needed unless desired. Minimal lighting needed to read music if need be.
