“Persistance is the Key”
One of my favorite phrases has always been “Persistence is the Key”, and my life has been a series of setbacks and do-overs that forced me to set and re-set my focus over and over again.
I use some of these experiences to inspire and connect with audiences and inspire them to tap into their own powers of persistence and determination to set goals and overcome them, no matter what barriers crop up along the way.
Born in rural Nebraska in the late 1970s, I was assigned female at birth, but always knew something wasn’t quite right about that. When I was about five years old, I survived a horrible car crash where I suffered a traumatic brain injury and had to learn to do basic life activities all over again. I soon spiraled into depression and self-harm, and after years of therapy and finally uncovering the truth of my transgender identity, I learned that persistent focus on my goals could get me further than I – or anyone else – thought I could go.
