Alex Dunn & the Deal
Overview
I am an Americana troubadour based out of the high desert of Northern New Mexico, with a full band that includes some of the top players from the area. If a big sound is wanted we are a sextet with drums, lap steel, fiddle, two guitars, and electric bass. We play mostly originals but have a large repertoire of covers, typically in the vane of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt, and Roger Miller. I am also available to play with a stripped down arrangement or even solo.

Alex Dunn & The Deal absolutely exceeded every expectation. From the moment they started playing, you could feel the authenticity and craftsmanship in their sound—it’s that rare blend of soulful Americana and polished musicianship that immediately draws people in. Whether it was their original music or carefully selected covers, every song felt intentional and expertly delivered.
What really sets Alex apart is his versatility. He reads the room effortlessly—creating a laid-back, intimate atmosphere when needed, then seamlessly building energy that gets people engaged and even dancing. It’s clear you’re not just hiring a band—you’re bringing in seasoned professionals who genuinely care about the experience they create.
Beyond the music, Alex was incredibly easy to work with—professional, responsive, and accommodating throughout the entire process. The setup was smooth, the performance was flawless, and the overall vibe elevated our event in a way that guests are still talking about.

What to expect
Alex Dunn provides professional, well-dressed entertainment. He and his band have the ability to get a crowd dancing while at the same time they can cater to a more relaxed and mellow atmosphere if needed. They primarily focus on their own original music but they have a large repertoire of covers, primarily in the old-time country and folk genres. They are also willing to learn a few requests, if the offer is right.
About
ALEX DUNN is based out of the high desert of northern New Mexico. He has recorded alongside folk luminaries Anna Tivel and Eli West and he has had the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Marty O'Reilly, Rachel Baiman, East Nash Grass, Kassi Valazza, Rainbow Girls, Hen House Prowlers, Sammy Brue, Shawn Hess, Izaak Opatz, Robbie Fulks and many more. His band includes some of the top musicians from the Four Corners region.
Dunn uses his own personal blend of Folk/Americana to reflect on the many lives he's led, from his youth along the border of Colorado and Wyoming to the quiet moments aboard commercial fishing vessels in the remote waters of Southeast Alaska, where he spent over a decade toiling on the sea and writing songs during his down time. Melodic sawdust and salt air, his music breathes with a sense of place, yet is imminently accessible and speaks to the universal.
His debut record Scattered Poems was recorded in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA and released in the fall of 2018 - an elegant and timeless debut, graced by the talents of some of the Northwest’s finest roots musicians, including Anna Tivel and Eli West.
Partnering with the label Color Red, he released his sophomore LP Southern Star on 12/3/21 - which he recorded with his band at Avast Recording Company and co-produced alongside multi-instrumentalist Bryant Moore (True Loves). It was mastered by legendary engineer Greg Calbi (Paul Simon, Bruce Springstein, Talking Heads, Blondie, Muddy Waters, Bon Iver, you name it).
Dunn and Moore collaborated again on the EP "You Just Jump In" - released NOVEMBER 22nd 2024.
SIMPLY PUT:
Alex Dunn is a modern Americana troubadour, offering his own blend of country-tinged folk music out of the high desert of northern New Mexico.
Additional booking notes
We simply require the space and power for 1-6 individuals to amplify their instruments. We have all the necessary equipment, amps, microphones and a small PA for an event with upwards of 200 attendees, however a house PA would be needed for anything much bigger. It's also of course dependent on the specific space of the event.
