Overview

Hello! Do you need a bassist to track for a recording session? How about a sub for your usual bassist? Or even a solo act for your event? I'm here for you! I'm Alex, and I've been active in the Dallas music scene since 2012. I've played at iconic Dallas venues like The Prophet Bar, Drugstore Cowboy, the City Performance Hall, and the Meyerson Center. I play jazz, R&B, and funk bass, with a sprinkling of rock, funk, and blues. I also perform solo covers of popular and classic tunes using a looper pedal and various instruments. I play both bass guitar and upright bass, so I can fit any vibe, be it a worship service, small intimate jazz venue, or sold-out club performances.

Booking information

Price range: $60 and up

Languages: English

Gig length: 30 - 360 minutes

What to expect

I can bring amplification, all cables, instruments, and microphones. All I need is a power outlet! Alternatively, I can hook into an in-house sound system. All my equipment fits easily onto a stage designed for solo players. When setting up and patching in, I can usually take between 15 minutes to 25 minutes, meaning I can be up and ready to start entertaining within 30 minutes of arriving. I usually play between 30 minutes and 4 hours, with a 10 minute break every 60-90 minutes. This is all new material, no repeated tracks, unless the audience has entirely turned over, in which case I may play a few of the popular ones again. My sets are usually best for outdoor events with lots of moving around, and since it's such a novelty, It draws a ton of attention out in public. I can usually draw a crowd if placed in a public area, which can bring tons of new business to your venue. Alternatively, I can bring a small combo-sized group with me for a slightly higher rate, and we can play jazz, R&B, or popular music (If requesting a group, please give us adequate time to prepare). I usually set out a tip jar to maintain a laid-back busking/street performance feel. I regularly interact with the audience to keep them engaged, cracking jokes and plugging my social media. If I'm at a private event, I usually can fulfill duties as an emcee or announcer. If you have any more questions, please message me for more info.

About

Hi! I'm Alex. Nice to meet you!

I'm a musician living and working in Dallas, TX. I'm primarily a bassist, but I make multi-instrumental videos for my YouTube Channel. I play jazz, R&B, and neo-soul.

I've been performing professionally since 2013, and I've played in many venues in the DFW area (Prophet Bar, City Performance Hall, and SoHo Food & Jazz, among others) and I continue to busk in the Deep Ellum area. If you're lucky, you may even catch me and some friends jamming on the corner of Crowdus and Main!

I've also been composing and arranging since 2011. I started writing EDM under the name Phazer Dubstep (which later became PHZR) and started an independent label, Space Dog Executive. When I started to delve deeper into music theory, I began writing classical pieces, such as "Etude in Dastgah-e Chahargah", an experimental piece written in graphical notation. Since 2014, the majority of my compositional efforts have gone towards Jazz music, with songs like "Madeline", "Baby Lane", and "Chroma Color".

If you are interested in seeing my work, check out my videos tab for samples of my playing. I hope you decide to have me at your venue or event!

Additional booking notes

All I need is a power outlet! If hooking up to a soundboard, I need one 1/4" input and one XLR input. I need a minimal amount of space, and no stage is required for my act! I actually prefer street-style playing, right on the same level as the audience.
