Acoustic Journeys
Overview
I provide warm, one-on-one acoustic guitar and singing visits for older adults in private homes, assisted living, memory care, nursing homes, hospitals, and other care settings. My repertoire includes hundreds of familiar songs spanning many decades and styles. Visits are relaxed and personal, with time to sing along, reminisce, share stories, or simply enjoy live music together. After spending the past couple of years volunteering in local nursing homes, I created Acoustic Journeys to bring that same comfort, connection, and joy to individuals and families.
I’m also available for birthdays, anniversaries, small gatherings, and other occasions where acoustic music would be a good fit.

What to expect
Clients can expect a relaxed, personal acoustic performance built around familiar songs and a warm, easygoing atmosphere.
For one-on-one Acoustic Journeys visits, the experience is intentionally informal. There’s time to sing along, reminisce, share stories, request favorites when possible, or simply sit back and enjoy the music. The goal is never to rush through a set list, but to create an enjoyable experience around the person receiving the visit.
For birthdays, anniversaries, retirement celebrations, small gatherings, and other events, I can provide live acoustic guitar and vocals in a way that fits the occasion — whether that means background music, more focused listening, or a mix of both.
I bring my own guitar and basic equipment, arrive prepared, and keep setup simple. I’m always happy to discuss favorite songs, the setting, and the kind of atmosphere you’re hoping to create ahead of time.
About
I’m Andrew, a singing guitarist and the founder of Acoustic Journeys. Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of volunteering by playing guitar and singing for residents in local nursing homes. Those experiences showed me firsthand how familiar music can bring back memories, spark conversation, encourage singing along, and create moments of genuine connection.
My appreciation for spending time with older adults was also inspired by my mother, who volunteered for many years in a nursing home. Her example stayed with me and helped shape what eventually became Acoustic Journeys.
My repertoire includes hundreds of familiar songs spanning many decades and styles. I especially enjoy music that people recognize and connect with, whether that means singing along, sharing a memory, or simply relaxing and enjoying the moment.
While Acoustic Journeys focuses primarily on one-on-one music visits for older adults in homes and care settings, I’m also available for birthdays, anniversaries, retirement celebrations, small gatherings, and other occasions where relaxed live acoustic music would be a good fit.
My approach is simple: good songs, an acoustic guitar, and a warm, personal connection with the people I’m playing for.
Additional booking notes
My setup requirements are minimal. I need a small, dry performance area, access to one standard electrical outlet, and protection from direct sunlight, rain, or other weather for outdoor events. No stage or special lighting is required. Easy access for loading in equipment and reasonably nearby parking are appreciated when possible.

Set list
My set list varies considerably depending on the audience and occasion. For one-on-one visits with older adults, I draw from hundreds of familiar songs spanning many decades, choosing music that feels appropriate for the individual and encourages recognition, memories, conversation, and singing along.
For birthdays, parties, anniversaries, and other gatherings, the set can be much more upbeat and geared toward the occasion, with a mix of classic rock, pop, folk, country, singer-songwriter favorites, standards, and other familiar songs.
I’m always happy to discuss musical preferences ahead of time and include favorite songs whenever possible. With such a large repertoire, I prefer to build the music around the people and the occasion rather than perform the same predetermined set at every event.
Influences and inspiration
My influences span many decades and styles, from classic singer-songwriters, folk and country to rock, pop, standards, and the great songs of the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and beyond. I’ve always been drawn to songs with memorable melodies, meaningful lyrics, and the ability to bring people together. More than any single artist or genre, I’m influenced by music that people recognize, connect with, and genuinely enjoy hearing again
Setup requirements
Just a dry weather-protected area to perform and a single outlet.
