What to expect

Whether it's that big band or jazz crooner standard your grandmother used to play, the tune you heard on that tropical beach that one time, or the song your parents had played at their wedding, Jon is sure to take you back to some of your fondest memories. His music is primed for relaxation, creating or recalling fond memories, and sparking romance. And, rather than demanding silent attention, it breaks down barriers and encourages conversation. Jon also teaches finger style guitar lessons.

If you are planning a Gatsby party, or would like to wow your wedding guests with your dance moves as a newlywed couple, Jon would love to get other people hooked on the joy of Swing Dance!

Jon also teaches how to get started writing poetry, and how to polish your essays/blogs. His Masters degree hybridized Renaissance Literature and Play-Writing. He loves providing dramaturgical services for classic theater production.

About

Jon is a retired English teacher who played guitar for his students while they wrote essays for his AP English Literature and Poetry classes. When he's not playing guitar, he writes, keeps fruit trees and mason bees, and putters with carpentry and auto mechanics. His guitar playing is as therapeutic for him as it is for his audience. Lay back and chill to his music with a cocktail, and hum along with your favorite nostalgic tunes.

Jon is also an avid Swing Dancer, and a professional educator with a masters degree in British Literature and thirty years of teaching experience.

Additional booking notes

Since Jon performs solo, he needs no more than 6-8 square feet of performance space, and a grounded outlet within 8-10 feet. He has equipment to fill as much as a small restaurant, a fellowship hall, an outdoor patio, or can pare back to an intimate cafe or living room space.
