Aaron Civic is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he is also serving as graduate assistant in the guitar studio of Julian Gray. He has earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College, as well as an Associate in Science degree from Schenectady County Community College's School of Music in upstate NY. During his studies in college, he has performed in masterclasses with renowned classical guitarists such as Ricardo Gallen, Nigel North, Colin Davin, Dale Kavanagh, and the Newman and Oltman guitar duo. He is always seeking new opportunities to perform and teach. Given these opportunities, he hopes to become a more advanced music educator, and promote knowledge and understanding of musical topics via day-to-day social interactions.
Aaron did not begin his career as a classical guitarist, however. In October of 2004, he had his first guitar lessons with George Fletcher in Saratoga Springs, NY. A few months later, he had established a small repertoire of cover songs, which he would continue to expand upon, and in April of 2005, he started busking in Saratoga Springs. Soon after, he was performing at open mikes, and putting on his own shows at certain venues throughout the larger capital region.
Between 2007 and 2009, Aaron's musical styles evolved as he incorporated the use of a Digitech Jamman looping pedal, and eventually, a Korg M50 keyboard workstation. As a result, the new music was almost solely instrumental material which focused on the one-man band aspect of his performance. As time progressed, he continued to expand upon his new musical foundation, and incorporated the new style of playing into his Rock and Roll background.
Currently, Aaron is pursuing new opportunities to perform in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area as both a classical guitarist, and a one-man band. To date, he has performed at a multitude of venues in the New York Capital Region, the New York Finger Lakes region, New York City, and other cities in the northeast. He holds teaching positions at Cardon Studios in Washington, D.C., Ottley Music School in Hyattsville, MD, Music on the Hill in Washington, D.C., and Roberson School of Music in Columbia, MD.
