Technical requirements :
To ensure the best possible performance, here's what I typically need. I'm flexible and happy to adapt to your venue — these are simply guidelines to discuss in advance.
1. Instrument
– In most cases, I perform on the venue's acoustic or digital piano. Please let me know in advance what instrument is available and its condition.
– If no piano is available, I can arrange to bring a professional digital piano with weighted keys for an additional fee, or advise on rental options.
– For acoustic pianos, I kindly ask that the instrument be tuned before the event.
2. Space and staging
– A stable, level surface for the piano, ideally away from high-traffic areas and doorways.
– For a digital piano setup, a space of roughly 6 × 6 feet is sufficient.
– If performing in a duo or ensemble, additional space is required — we'll confirm based on the number of musicians.
3. Sound
– For small to mid-sized events (up to ~50 guests), acoustic performance is often sufficient in a reasonably quiet setting.
– For larger events, outdoor settings, or venues with ambient noise, amplification is recommended. Please confirm whether the venue provides a PA system, or let me know so we can arrange sound accordingly.
– A power outlet within reach is required for digital piano and any amplification.
4. Lighting
– Adequate lighting on the performance area so I can read music comfortably, especially for evening or dimly lit events.
– I can provide a small clip-on music stand light if needed.
5. Other
– Shelter and shade are required for outdoor performances — pianos and equipment must be protected from direct sun, heat, and moisture.
– A comfortable indoor temperature helps keep acoustic instruments in tune and ensures the best performance.
– Please allow time for arrival, setup, and sound-check before guests arrive.
