Hello, my name is Deanna Pahlmann and I am a student at Webster University. I am serving as the philanthropy coordinator of the chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority at Webster University. Our mission as the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority is to provide a sisterhood experience rich with tradition, innovation, and opportunities for growth. Delta Phi Epsilon is partnered with several international philanthropies. Our three main philanthropies are The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation, and ANAD (Anorexia nervosa and associated disorders). It is our vision to inspire and empower our sisterhood to engage in a lifetime of leadership and service. Therefore throughout each academic year, we throw various events to raise money, and most importantly awareness, for our philanthropies. This coming semester, the spring semester 2019, our large philanthropy event will be an event supporting ANAD, “ANAD week”. This is an event that we have been throwing on campus for nearly 10 years, and it is a week that promotes body positivity and mental health awareness among the student body. We throw various small events around campus throughout the week that allow students to feel more positive about themselves and life itself. Past events include taking a compliment from a board that helps to make an individuals day brighter, a tabling event where students can write down an insecurity and throw it in our trash can, and many more. This year our ANAD week is scheduled to happen February 25th-March 1st. We plan to hold small events around campus like every year, similar to the ones exemplified earlier, but in addition to these small events, on Friday, March 1st, we were hoping to have a large fundraiser for ANAD. We wanted to have an interactive speaker come to campus and speak to students about mental and physical health. We want this to be informational while being fun and memorable for the students that attend. At the event, we plan to sell stickers, shirts, and other positive souvenirs; from which all the proceeds will go to ANAD.
