About

ZigZag is a group of Virginia Beach middle and high school musicians who have risen from the ghetto of Baylake Pines to create a unique rock sound unmatched in Hampton Roads and beyond. Over the last year, ZigZag has performed to thousands of fans at the oceanfront, the NorVa, and other premier venues in the area. As lead vocalist and keyboard player for ZigZag, Celine is the powerful muse that shapes the BIG SOUND. Celine has studied piano and vocals for over nine years with such luminary instructors as BJ Atkinson, Michael Lamb, and Heather Jeanette. In addition, Celine attends Governor’s School of the Arts where she studies piano, oboe, and Gregorian Chants. Besides Chopin, her musical influences include Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel. She loves classical music, classic rock, and modern hits. Celine dreams of someday performing at either Madison Square Garden or Carnegie Hall. When not rocking with ZigZag, Celine likes to eat grapes, play basketball, and read all forms of printed matter. Her favorite class in school is Civics.

Madeline is the driving force of the rhythm section, providing tight beats and flaying fills to the delight of screaming fans everywhere. Instructed by Steve Archer, the premier drum teacher in Hampton Roads, Madeline has developed a tremendous sense of rhythm and continues to surprise audiences on a regular basis. Madeline is also currently a percussionist in her school band. Her single greatest influence on drums (only) is Keith Moon and Madeline’s favorite song is, appropriately, Baba O’Riley. While being rooted in classic rock, Madeline also loves the Black Eyed Peas, Cold Play, and Owl City. Soccer is Madeline’s main love and she also enjoys tennis, biking and eating really sour pickles. She is the premier baker in the house and French is her favorite school subject.

Brendan makes songs soar with his perfectly cadenced riffs and foot-stomping fret virtuosity. Brendan has taken guitar lessons from Matt Morrissette and John Baldwin. As a standout classical bass player at KLMS orchestra, Brendan has a comprehensive Bach-to-rock musical pedigree. Brendan models his guitar playing after Billie Joe Armstrong and hopes to someday play at Times Square on New Year’s Eve. When he is not wailing on the guitar, Brendan likes to play baseball, hang out at the beach, and eat big t-bone steaks. Brendan’s favorite school subject is Social Studies. Brendan is, of course, having the time of his life, and firmly believes that rock’n’roll ain’t noise pollution.

Jack is the Heartbeat of America. His thunder is what makes ZigZag more than just another cover band. Jack studies bass with Chris Kemp, one of the premier modern music instructors in Tidewater, and Matt Morrissette, famed bass player with the rollicking tribute(not cover) band, Phat Benatar. Jack also plays upright bass in the GNMS orchestra and hopes to someday rock the Virginia Beach Amphitheatre. Jack is the top swimmer in the band, enjoying state-wide success as an integral member of his exclusive club swim team. Jack also likes surfing, skim boarding and hanging out with his friends. His favorite band is, of course, the Ramones.

Julian is more than just another kid in a mafia hat. His guitar is the personification of melodic interpretation for the new millennium. His guitar teachers, John Baldwin, Matt Morrissette, and Shea Scotti, have marveled at his innate ability to quickly learn new styles, progressions, and leads. Julian is an All-District trumpet player and, like most educated, and culturally adept music aficionados, believes the Bruce Springsteen to be the crme-de-la-crme of rock’n’roll. Julian loves to play tennis, soccer, and basketball. His favorite meal involves pork chops and he is greatly interested in the history of mankind.
