I'm a wedding photographer that takes colorful, sharp, and unposed photographs. My goal is to be able to deliver excellent quality with a quick turnaround. I want to be a valued team member to you on your wedding day.
Wendy is professional, kind and so much fun to work with! She had really creative ideas and did an amazing job capturing the details of our wedding, which is nice because when you are in the moment, there are a lot of things you miss. She got great couple photos of us - an accomplishment because we are notoriously awkward. She also got really lovely photos of our family and friends enjoying themselves. Her turnover of the photos was very quick, and they were easy to access. She also gave us plenty to work with. Wendy is an excellent wedding photographer who loves what she does, and won't disappoint! Highly recommended!
Response from Wendy Jade Photography:
OMG, thanks so much for the kind words! You two were so fun and gracious, and your wedding was so amazingly beautiful! I really enjoyed capturing you and your family and friends, and all the special details like your handmade centerpieces and vases. You made the evening so enjoyable! And PS, you two are NOT awkward! :)

What To Expect
So, you’ve booked me for the big day, but what next? How does wedding photography work?
Well, this is how my workflow unfolds and what you can expect after booking me to photograph your wedding or elopement.
The months before your wedding
After booking, you can feel free to talk to me about your wedding ideas and plans as much or as little as you wish. With some clients, I know absolutely everything that’s going on, whereas, with others, I know nothing. It’s cool, just be you, and if you need help with a certain problem, or want an extra, objective opinion on an idea, I’m always happy to help where I can.
Engagement or Portrait Session
If you have an engagement or couple portrait session included in your package, we will find a date that works and discuss what you may wish to do for it. It’s a great time to learn how to pose and to get comfortable in front of the camera. It’s also an opportunity to get to know me, and for me to get to know you even more. I ask you about any camera fears or worries and hope to put you at ease. We have a crazy amount of fun and get some stunning photos while we’re at it. I adore them!
Six weeks before – questionnaire
While we may be talking through your planning stages, at six weeks before your wedding day, I will send you a questionnaire to fill out. This helps me get to know you both, and to find out details about the timeline of your wedding day. This helps me figure out logistics, know where I’ll be at any point of your day, and plan when we can sneak away for some night shots or added portraits. It also includes your photo list, and your vendor information, which helps us wrangle all the family for family photos, and gives recognition to vendors for their work.
Your wedding day
It’s your wedding day! Yippee!
You don’t need to worry about anything. I’ll show up promptly (I’m usually early) and check in with you or your planner. Because we will have previously discussed your timeline, I’ll get all the shots from the details to group shots. And I’ll take care of all your photography needs at the ceremony and reception.
Editing
When I get home, I start the editing process. This can be time-consuming, so please be patient! For a typical wedding, it will take me about 3 hours just to download all the photos!
Then I tackle the next phase of editing, which is choosing which photographs to include in the wedding gallery. On a typical wedding day I will capture anywhere between 2,000 – 3,000 photographs. If there is a second photographer too, there will be even more for me to sort through. Not all photos are gallery-worthy, and I remove photos that where people have their eyes closed, a funny face, a mouth full of food. I eliminate anything blurry or ones that are duplicates.
Finally, I start doing what most people think editing is. I correct the color, crop images, color balance, and “fix” things like a blemish or a centerpiece that’s behind someone’s head.
Delivery of the online gallery
So, once I have got the final images all sorted and edited, I will create an online gallery for your images to live in. It is also where you can buy prints and share your images with anyone you wish, just by sending them a simple email. You might like to send them on to people who couldn’t make it on the day, or to those who are in the photos themselves.
If you order a wedding album
If you order a wedding album, I will ask you to mark the images you want in the album from your online gallery, and will let you know how many images to choose. There are two options in formatting, depending on price point – for you to do it, or for me to do it.
If I format the album, I will start to design your album to not only flow with the day, but to be aesthetically pleasing as well. Once designed, I will email you a proof copy which you can approve or make amendments. Once everything is approved, we will discuss options about your album cover.
It’s best to make all your amendments at once in order to avoid extra fees.
Leave me a review
There is no pressure to leave a review, but it really does mean a lot to me, and it helps other couples who are looking for a wedding photographer to know if I’m the one for them.
Stay in touch
Hopefully, you adore the photographs and plaster them all over your walls!
One of the biggest rewards of my job is watching a journey grow and seeing a couple blossom in their life together. I love to stay in touch with all of my clients, to see the adventure unfold. So please do keep in touch, and if you get any prints up on the wall, send me a photo of them, as that’s where photos should be – on walls for all to see!
Hopefully, this helps you understand how wedding photography works and what you can expect from me. If you would like me to photograph your big day, please feel free to contact me!
I’m Wendy Solomon, owner of Wendy Jade Photography in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I think I fell in love with photography when my sister gave me a camera as a high school graduation gift. From then on, I was the annoying friend who brought my camera everywhere, and photographed everything, no matter how mundane.
It was so important to me to document the events in life. Because even back then, I understood that even though “you always have your memories”, your memories are greatly enhanced by the detail photographs can provide. And I never wanted to forget a single person, life event, or shiny object!
So there are a lot of reasons why I do what I do. It’s an honor to me to get to know you, to hear your story, and most importantly, to work together to preserve the most memorable times of your life. I'm sentimental. I've saved every birthday card, thank you note, mementos from trips, and photos for as long as I can remember. I believe it's more than just a photo, it's a keepsake.
Plus, a little confession… All the people I work with are beautiful! When I look through that lens, I see the sparkle in your eyes, your long legs, the quirky way your eyebrow goes up, that one gesture you do. Your personality is shining through all of your features, and creating a unique, perfect you! And I am so excited to find the best angle, the right lighting, and the best poses to help you show that off to the world.
In those early years with that first little 35 mm instamatic, I don’t think it occurred to me that photography could be a profession, so I became an esthetician and sold skin care and cosmetics. I loved that work as well, but I was also doing photography as a hobby. Along the way, I met my sweetheart, Roy, and we got married on Friday the 13th of December, 1985. He is my rock and helps out – sometimes willingly – when I need him to be a test model. Having a husband/best friend by my side for that long reinforces my love of photographing weddings and getting to be a part of the beginning of another couple’s journey.
But the single thing that defines me is that I live my life out loud, in color! I see things in color, and am attracted to color. My décor and clothing are typically vibrant. And for my photographs, I seek out and edit for full, glorious color. My clients usually are on the same page about this. One of my clients told me, “We like your work because we are artists and we love color. We’re not pastel people!”
I would describe my work as colorful (obviously), bright, and “unposed”. Unless you are comfortable posing, and know what you want, I will give you direction for photos that have that editorial feel.
Outside of work, I like nature walks, chocolate, animals, sparkly things, chocolate, reading books or watching movies (especially horror), and did I mention chocolate? Past pets have included cats, dogs, rats, frogs, and spiders, and I really do like all living things except for mosquitos. I’ve been known to be a risk-taker at times, and have been skydiving and bungee jumping, so if those skills are ever needed at your event, you can count me in!
