Why hire Uncommon Bond?
Uncommon Bond is a band tailored for wedding receptions, parties, corporate and special events. We play a variety of music from Jazz standards to great R & B dance music. At receptions we are able to start with laid back, background music during dinner and then morph into a funky dance band as the party develops. We have music that can appeal to all generations, but major most on the great dance music of the 70's, 80's, 90's and today. We have great songs for the first dances at weddings. Uncommon Bond features an excellent lead female vocalist, along with excellent musicians at keyboard, acoustic/electric guitarist, bass and drums. All the musicians also sing lead and backup vocals.
About
Uncommon Bond is a recently formed band of musicians who have been close friends for many years and now have come together to offer their combined talents and great music for celebrations of all kinds. They feature a wide variety of genres, including jazz, rock ballads, contemporary country, while focusing largely on great R & B dance music.
Dan Bourland (Drums and vocals) has played music his entire life, including piano, drums, and vocals. Musical groups have included his power trio garage band Up The Creek (1972-74) and 30 years of music with his soprano-singing wife and other talented church musicians, including 15 years with these current band members. His prized 1971 Ludwig snare drum is the main cause of his left ear hearing loss. Dan is a medical physicist and he and his wife have three grown children and one son-in-law.
Brian Haskell (Keyboards and vocals) has made a living as a professional musician his entire adult life. Although he has had extensive work in the past on a large number of instruments, he has focused his efforts in recent years on keyboards and singing. Brian’s background includes 8 years as a touring rock ‘n roll musician, covering most of the US and a good bit of Canada; a formal music degree from the University of Washington; instructor in jazz improvisation at Bellevue University; Guest Artist in Jazz to the Seattle public schools; many years of Worship & Music Ministry: and currently he directs two different choirs, including the newly formed Forsyth County Homeschool Youth Choir. Brian has composed hundreds of songs and arrangements, including the music for the CD Our Rock, which was released in 2011.
Cliff Jordan (Guitar and vocals) is an avid and an accomplished acoustic guitarist who has added electric guitar to his repertoire as a result of joining up with Uncommon Bond. He has had many years of experience playing with church worship teams as well as accompanying soloists and performing as a solo musician. He is married to and shares life with Jennifer and their three children.
Jennifer Jordan (Main vocalist) has enjoyed singing since she was a child. She is active in local musical theater, tackling rolls such as Maria in The Sound of Music, and Nellie in South Pacific. She is a founding member of the Victorian a cappella quartet, Carolers of Christmas Past, and it was with this quartet that she sang at the White House for the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in 2010. Jennifer also sings as a soloist, in choirs, and on worship teams. Jennifer is married to Cliff and has 3 children.
Bob Russ (Bass and vocals) fell in love with music in middle school band where he played cornet, French horn, alto & tenor saxophone. He then pursued guitar, but in college found his true musical calling, the bass guitar. Since then, Bob has played in numerous regional bands ranging from jazz to rock to country to blues. He has logged many hours in studios recording original tunes and music for product commercials. Bob met up with his current band mates while playing with Redeemer Church's worship band.
